Well thats more bands than you can shake a stick at... Going to go and get my 3 day pass this afternoon at Zilker!
Got my ticket last week. Hopefully I can make it to Austin for the 6:00 Leftover Salmon set. Gotta see G Love, Ween, Old 97's, and the Dandy Warhols, as well. It's going to be a great weekend.
I wish I could make it over to see Ian Moore......his version of Muddy Water's "Champagne and Reefer" was smoking.
I wish I could go. But between driving to Nashville to see DMB and trying to get back for the Texans' game on Sunday, alas, I will have to skip it.
gonna be there sunday. didn't wanna shell out the $70+ for the 3 day, even though that's a hell-of-a-deal too. but i'll get to see Jack Johnson (hell. yes.), Ben Harper and the Innonent Criminals, G. Love, OAR, Cross Canadian, and Reckless Kelly! it's like the guys running this festival read my mind and granted me a wish. needless to say, i'm f*cking pumped!!!
Word- won't be missing the Shins, this years festival is going to be so much better than last year (which was cool). Music is better and the temp. is going to be way better and it's better organized this time around. In Homer's voice... "Three days of non-stop music...(drool)"
Wish I had the $70 for that. I'm gonna catch The Shins at Antone's on the 20th. Not as great as the ACL Festival, but it should be a good show. Brian
Hey! We can play, "if I were going to ACL, I'd want to see these bands" Doyle Bramhall The Charlie Hunter Trio Cody ChesnuTT Michael Franti & Spearhead G. Love & Special Sauce Los Lobos Old 97’s REM The Shins Ween Yo La Tengo
Nothing will ever, ever top last year's inaugural festival. I'm so disappointed with the lineup this year I'm not going :\
Crowds!! Traffic!! Spending money!!!! Yay!!!! No thanks. Besides that, Bob Schneider is the worst thing to come out of Austin since Fred Akers. His entire appeal is that he is eye candy for the ladies. His music, um, how do you say it here in America, umm... sucks!!! OK Kagy, is that going to bring you out of hiding?????
traffic? how can there be any traffic if you can't drive to the festival? the website says there is no parking at the festival, you have to ride a bike, walk, taxi or take public transportation. is there still a lot of traffic?
Spending money is about the only thing you got right there. Althought you don't really have to, except for tickets to get in.. it's hard to resist buying stuff though, the booths are just packed with cool stuff. The traffic last time was a breeze, park and walk, no big deal, easy to get there easy to leave. Bob Schneider is probably the best musician on the ticket at the festival, although I do hate the way his fan base is like 90% women who only want to see him because he dated Sandra Bullock, but hey.. every Bob Schneider show I go to is PACKED with the HOTTEST women I've ever seen.. so I can't complain. One time my friend's band was opening for Bob at the Satellite Longue, I got to go back in the green room and chill with the bands and stuff.. once the ladies got wind of that, my phone number became a precious commodity
It's park and ride... they'll have a bazillion buses running to drop you off and pick you up. Unless you can afford a taxi.
