Some interesting read on the internet and, I'm really enjoying these articles on geek culture and how it has changed society.. I for one am not a hardcore geek/nerd.. I grew up around them, understand their passion and references but I don't take it to the extreme like dress up in silly costumes and go to a comic book convention..

If you haven't read Patton's Essay, read that first before reading this one..
    I provided both links below...

Oh and I also missed the days when I would geek out about something and tell that certain someone about it and he/she would get excited from me telling them that.. Nowadays If I geek out about something and tell that someone, they already heard about it 2 weeks ago and could care less about my passion for something..

My dad and uncle actually introduced me and my sister to D&D back in the late 70's. We would get together on weekends to play.

My dad also bought the TRS-80 Model I around that time as well.

Of course, Star Wars IV came out about that time too...

I was sent well on my way to geekdom by those great men.

I get geeked out more on this stuff than I do with the ps3's and the wii and all that other new stuff that just came out... I guess it's built around nostalgia and I never had those things as a kid but always had awesome friends that do...
Nowadays you can just buy anything with a click of a button.. Everything is instant gratification...
