He told me he wouldn't play me the rest of the game if I kept acting like a fool.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Steve Francis found a way to make up for missing every shot in the first half. He simply didn't miss with the game on the line.

Francis ignited a game-ending 14-1 run with eight straight points and an assist to lead the Houston Rockets to an 86-75 victory Tuesday night over the New Jersey Nets.

"I was frustrated," said Francis, who finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists after going 0-for-8 in the first half.

"When you're not making shots, you're going to be upset about it," Francis added. "Coach calmed down. He told me he wouldn't play me the rest of the game if I kept acting like a fool. He told me winners forget the first half and come back in the second half."

I'm glad that JVG has the guts to put his star players in their place. The past few seasons, the Rockets lacked this type of attitude towards discipline from it's coaching staff. A lot of props to the coach for the win in New Jersey.

Doubtful that is something Rudy would say to his players. Looks like Francis responded to the challenge!

Be careful Deuce, they want you to appreciate JVG without calling out St. Rudy.

I know I might get reemed on that comment. But that's how I feel. And I love Rudy, loved what he did for the team for all of those years. I just feel that Rudy was best served as a VETERANS coach and this team needed an a$$ kicker of a coach to give the younger players more structure. What JVG did is exactly what some players on this team needs.

In some ways, I can see that SF, Cat, Cato, and Boki have made marked improvements in their game since last season. Not just in their skills but also in their attitudes. The additional role players to this year's team have worked out great compared to what they got off the bench in previous seasons. The only bad thing I can think of that's carried over from the past is Moochie.

It doesn't take guts to berate players. What are they going to do, kick his ass?

Did you not notice all the timeouts last year where Rudy was cussing his boys out?

Then perhaps they didn't listen, didn't respond. Either way, not good. ;)

True that. Mooch is trying, maybe too hard, but trying. My hope for Moochie this season is that he plays just good enough so that the Rockets can trade him.

This adds a whole new dimension to the "fight thread" in the hangout.

    JVG vs. Steve
    JVG vs. Yao's leg
    Yao vs. Cato
    Piatkowski vs. Nachbar
    Moochie vs. the ball boy

What's funny to me is you can hear and watch JVG like talking to the refs about fouls and stuff...complaining. :D I like...and of course..you can hear him and observe him telling Moochie to HURRY THE !@#$ UP and stuff like that. He also looks upset when we do something stupid...but then he says it's okay and to keep playing. :D

They should put the mike on JVG during the games and feature it as a Rockets half-time special. I wonder if he's a big time cusser coming from New York and all.

They did it in Monday Night Football, didn't they? I wish they could do the same in basketball. It'd be fun to get JVG miked up.
