Well, we just did the small HDTV thread - it's time to go BIG! I'm selling my 42" rear-projection Hitachi HDTV and upgrading to something in the 56-60 inch range. I need HDMI and direct PC monitor input (this is an HTPC setup). Any recommendations?
I'm in the same boat. I've got a 5 year-old 55" Mitsubishi rear-projection HDTV that I plan on replacing in the near future. Any suggestions in that size range? Multiple HDMI/DVI inputs are a requirement.
You'll be hard pressed to find anything with more than 2 HDMI inputs. I don't know why you'd want DVI anymore now that HDMI is out. I'm looking at a Denon reciever that has 3 HDMI inputs and converts all other inputs to HDMI.
I'm extremely happy with my Samsung DLP 56" rear projection (1080p). Got it for $3k via Tigerdirect. Has the whole array of inputs, has great sound itself but has digital audio outputs and a sub out as well. Evan
Yeah, my friend and I have been looking for sweet deals on TV's...My current one is crapping out we'll see what deals are out there.
what do you have gamz? i notice that tigerdirect has some good deals, also onecall is good too. i'd decided to put my hdtv upgrade on hold til i get my xbox360 hd dvd.
got a samsung 61 1080p dlp and its BEAUTIFUL it has a vga input, 2 components, 2 hdmi, a couple of composite/svideo (dont even bother with those anymore) the model i got was the samsung hls6187W i got it for 2900 after taxes (i live in ca). there were better prices online, i believe amazon had it for about 2300 w/ free shipping, but i got great financing at circuit city for it. also i am not sure if it matters to you but the design is outstanding. it has a sleek think black bezel which makes the tv look bigger. it also helps to take up less space and look cleaner. i saw some sonys and panasonics at costco that said 62 inches but they looked smaller than my samsung. highly recommended the only 2 drawbacks and they are very minor --- it takes about 10 secs for the tv to warmup to the proper viewing brightness (but that is the case with all dlps) and not too big on the built in speakers they are not bad but i use a receiver anyway.
Nice. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to upgrade. I'm really happy with my Samsung 32" LCD TV, so I'll take a look at their bigscreens.
