I bought a 55" LCD recently. I want to hook it to my laptop, does HDMI cable make a big difference in the quality of pictures? They price range from 20-30 to 200+, what are the differences if any? I want to stream movies and maybe play some games like dragon age.
It makes no difference as long as the cable works since its a digital cable. Either the bits get there or they don't. I get my cables from monoprice.com.
3 for 6 bucks http://www.meritline.com/3-pcs-of-6-feet-hdmi-male-to-male-digital-av-cable-28-awg---p-26865.aspx
BTW, many retailers get up to 80 percent margin on cables. They make just as much money on the cable as they do on the TV which is why they push the cables so hard.
It depends on Distance the TV is from the HD reciever/Blu-ray player. Any distance over 10 ft. you should get more expensive cables. other than that got to monoprice as suggested. I'd buy 3 while I'm at it.
Your laptop has a HDMI? Mine has display port.I wonder what audio your laptop can transcode, do you know?
Have you ever experienced a problem with a cheap cable or just repeating something you heard? I have never heard of a problem due to length in a home install.
experience. I've installed 5 home theaters and some really long cables for mostly HD Projectors tend to be flaky. you don't have to buy Monsters (completely useless) but there is a bit of difference.
I cannot remember the exact model. It is a gateway core two due 2.0 GZ 4gb mem 528 mb video card, basically a cheap gaming machine I bought two years ago.
There can be a huge difference in HDMI cables, so don't blindly follow advice that all HDMI cables are created equal. If you're trying to display 720P/1080i or lower resolution, then any HDMI cable will work. If you're trying to display anything greater, make sure its 1.3a certified and buy from a reputable seller. Saying that, Monoprice will work perfectly fine.
Biggest SCAM going today. Most cheap cables are just as good as the expensive ones, listen to Ghost he is right. DD
Like I said before. Either the cables work or don't work. As long as there is a picture, there will be no difference in picture quality.
No, it's a digital connection. The kind of cable matters not. Don't believe me, research online. A digital connection either delivers a 1 or a 0, as opposed to an analog connection where there can be: quality loss, interference and signal resistance. The whole cable thing is a scam. There's actually a pretty good article (if I can find it I'll post it) why monster cable is a rip off.
