    @#%^^&&##@*)(*$@!^*))%$#@&*^!!! HBO!

Stupid decision and even worse handling. How do you cancel a show while people are watching the latest episode? At least wait a day or a week. Damn.

That sucks, there was so much more story to tell and it was just getting into their rivalry!

They must have just hastily edited that epilogue for the credits of the last episode in the last few days.

They could have covered the entire 80’s, finishing with the 1991 Finals vs Jordan and finally getting back to the opening scene that took place in 1991 with Magic Johnson retiring (for the first time)

But they will continue making Sex in the City about 60 year old single women in NYC

Damn that really blows about the cancellation, the wife just asked after last nights episode if they were making more.....shame I really enjoyed both series and hoped we'd get to see the rise of MJ dramatized.....

Mixed reactions on this show. I am literally the demographic they're targeting... and while I found it entertaining and I love almost all the cast, I don't think it ever reached must-watch status after the first season, and there wasn't that much anticipation for the 2nd season.

That's pretty much a death-blow for any show on any network... let alone a network that historically hasn't had the patience to let a show find its audience when it didn't find it after the first season.

And while I applaud some of their basketball scenes being even more accurate/realistic than any show casting actors as professional basketball players can be... it was always going to be the weakest aspect of the show, which unfortunately relies upon those games/results being the most important aspect of the show's narrative.

Everything has gone to hell since the merger. I hope someone else picks it up but I doubt it.

I thought there was something lacking in the actual basketball parts of the show. They weren't able to show just how good players like Bird and Magic were, I still had to explain to my wife what kind of player Bird was. That said, I really enjoyed it overall and I'm bummed it was cancelled early.

Wow, literally just watched the finale and came here to see how soon Season 3 would be released. Season 1 was too slow but Season 2 was EPIC.

I saw the epilogue and though "eh, they're probably throwing that in just in case." Didn't know the decision has already been made.

I was really looking forward to 86 and how they would treat Ralph's miracle shot in Game 5.

I wanted to talk about how great this last episode was but now I don't feel like it...

I guess I’m in the minority, but I don’t feel like there was anything left to cover other than the AIDS stuff. They literally fast forwarded through three basketball seasons in this last season. What else is there to talk about? The show is called the Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and that part was already covered. Even if someone other than old school Rocket fans cared about Ralph’s miracle shot, that 10 seconds is not enough to keep an expensive show on the air for. I loved the show too, but if you’re not going to deep dive into the minutia of each season, then what’s the point?

I agree with most of what you said. I enjoyed the first season but haven't been motivated to watch the second season. Expensive show + low ratings + strike + ex-Lakers crapping on the show = easy cancellation for a cost cutting network.

I really hope Discover sells off WB because they are clueless to what is good and what is trash.

Watched the last episode last night and it was really good............I was just getting into all the characters, the guy who plays Magic was really good and John C Reilly was fantastic.

Shout out to the vintage HBO intro a la early mid 80’s that is ingrained into my psyche and played before the opening credits of the series finale, I hope others caught that!
