I think I have finally seen an HBO show that doesn't work. Is anyone into this? Everytime I watch it I come away depressed. There's nothing funny about a has been actress stumbling her way through a reality show having constant disappointment after disappointment broadcast nationally. I think it would be funnier if it was just based on an actress making a comeback without the reality aspect of the show.
Sounds like Minding the Store. Only Pauly Shore is a has-been I never really liked so it's kinda funny watching him convince himself he has a shot of breakin back into Hollywood - as a dramatic actor no less. In any case, who's The Comback profiling? Don't have HBO...
The Comeback is a fictional show starring Lisa Kudrow about a has been on a reality show. I watched part of one episode and then decided that HBO on Sunday nights now ended at 10:30 instead of 11:00.
I have been watching the episodes on HBO in Demand. After the first two episodes I felt much the same way you do. The show has grown on me some. It will never be an event for me the way Six Feet Under was. I will surely miss that show.
I watch the show only because I've invested time into it...there's only two eps left, so I want to see how it ends. But damn, it hurts to watch most of the time. I just feel soo embarassed for Kudrow's character that I'm usually yelling at the t.v. Anyhow....Entourage...now that's I show I can jive with.
I guess they are trying to go for the Curb Your Enthusiasm and the Office style of comedy, but can't quite get it.
I didn't really like The Comeback...Very boring...Entourage is the sh*t...I actually can't wait for Rome to come out...
Kudrow is horrible. I love Entourage, but I don't like the casting of Mandy Moore. Doesn't work for me. Shoulda been a big name actress like Alba. I have a hard time believing James Cameron would have settled for Moore in one of his films. Line of the year: "He's hard."
I don't know. He did cast a relatively unknown Kate Winslet in Titanic. But Entourage is the best show on television right now. That is so how our group would be if one of us was a celebrity. I even have the roles down to the friend.
That's exactly what I was thinking, they were trying to get a Curb Your Enthusiasm feel, it just misses badly. Instead of laughing at Kudrow's character, I end up feeling bad for her. Its more tragedy than comedy. I just started watching Entourage. It is pretty good. It is a really good concept and any show you can stick a bunch stars realistically is good.
