Ok, I recently got access to HBO GO, I've never had HBO so I'm very new to all of the series.

For those that don't know, HBO GO basically has the full seasons of pretty much all HBO series, current and past. So far the only show I have watched is GoT.

So with that said, where should I go from here? I'm leaning towards Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire. But mainly because I just don't know much about the others.

    The Wire? Six Feet Under?

What's the best show to dive into?

    The Sopranos

True Blood (first seasons are really good)

    The Pacific

    Band Of Brothers

all the ones you mentioned, (can't really go wrong with HBO shows)

My only problem with HBO go is that it lags like crazy sometimes and gives you VHS quality

    HBO is awesome.

    Curb ur enthusiasm
    The Wire
    The Sopranos

I'd say these 3 shows are arguably the best of all time within its genre.

To start off this is the exact 3 I would choose, but of course I'd start off with the Soprano's, arguably one of the best series in the history of TV closely followed by The Wire. For humor you cannot even go wrong with Curb. Just brilliant stuff, braj.

    sopranos was overrated imo
    it was good not great

    the wire is great
entourage was really good through the first 3/4 seasons

    boardwalk empire is good

but if you havent watched band of brothers i would start there, the pacific was okay but not nearly as good as BoB

    eastbound and down is ridiculous

i still have a lot i havent seen from hbo as well

Not sure what IP you use... never had a problem with HD quality streaming on HBO Go. Hell, its still HD quality even over 4G.

Nearly all the HBO shows are entertaining enough to get into... especially the ones that last beyond 3+ seasons. For a network that doesn't rely on advertising, they give every show a chance... thus the ones that are on the longest usually are the best of the best (except for Entourage, which stayed on for three seasons too long).

The entire HBO Go concept is an attempt to cut the cord with the usual "cable provider" way of subscribing to content. I'm impressed that HBO was able to get ALL its programming available.

I think the Sopranos has more popular appeal, and is perhaps more dramatic. The Wire is awesome, but the story lines develop more slowly, and the characters are more complex. So if you're looking for a show with more immediate entertainment value, I'd go with The Sopranos before The Wire.

My favorite show of all time is Six Feet Under, so I would definitely make it a point to watch that. The Wire, The Sopranos, and Curb Your Enthusiasm should also be near the top of your list. I'm going through and re-watching Oz myself at the moment. I'd forgotten how good this show was. Rome and Deadwood are a couple of outstanding shows that were ended far too soon.

six feet under, one of the best of allll time.
I nearly fried my eyes watching the wire, because I couldn't stop.
Sopranos is a must watch, no bustin balls here.
Band of brothers is my favorite world war 2 saga ever, the pacific not so much.
    Rome, very underrated.
    Oz revolutionized all dramas.

    john adams was exceptionally done.
    Love Board walk empire.
GIRLS is very funny. Shoshana makes it work.
The first 2 seasons of True Blood, hooker.

everything on hbo is pretty entertaining, even 'how to make it in america.'

however, I could not get into deadwood. I tried. I really did.

Also, hbo's cathouse is pretty educational.

Flight of the Conchords should be getting more love than it is. One of the funniest shows ever.

    The Wire = GOAT

But I do admit it isn't for everyone. My girlfriend couldn't handle it, and there wasn't enough "action" for some of my moronic friends.

    Entourage!

Thats the show I was forgetting, was just one the tip of my tongue.

The first 6 seasons of Entourage are amazing OP, I enjoyed it more than the Sopranos, which is really slow sometimes.

The Wire and the Larry Sanders Show.

One of the best dramas and the best comedies of all time.
