Haynesworth on the block? Wouldn't he look nice lined up next to Mario?

Interesting John Clayton article on The Mouse. Says the Skins have already paid him most of his guaranteed money ($32 Mil of the $41 Mil) he's owed.

He was offered to the Eagles for McNabb, the Eagles wanted the picks instead as they are trying to get younger. Clayton speculates on the Lions or Bucs trading their high 2nd or 3rd rounder to get him... which makes me think The Texans would have to part with either their first or their 2nd AND 3rd. It's a high price, but can you imagine Mario and Big Al on the same line? Or the awkward locker room conversations with Matt Schaub?

Would you want this guy at all (attitude is the only downside, but it's big) and if you did want him in Battle Red, Deep Steel Blue, and Liberty White what would you pay to make it happen?

    We'd be a top 5 defense.

definitely worth the price. I would even consider a 1st rounder, but I think a 2nd rounder plus stuff would get it done

The guy has done nothing to prove that he was playing for anything more than the fat contract he got.

With that said, I'd give up a 3rd for him just because we are that terrible at DT and even an unmotivated Haynesworth would have an impact on our defense.

I'd worry about him, the guy is injury prone and lacks motivation. He is coming off a bad year so I'd do a 3rd or 4th for him but that is about it.

Unfortunately it's Philly that wants to get young. I would assume that the Skins would want a 3-4 NT (which is what they're trying to convince Al to become).

I feel like I'd part with a first or future first.

And Rockets934life... he really didn't have that bad a year. They were ranked 10th in defense last season AND both the ends on that Redskins line ended up with 11 sacks each... and neither of those guys are in Mario's class (although I think Orakpo is very good).

PER THE ARTICLE: "Even though injuries limited Haynesworth to 12 games in 2009, his presence was felt. Andre Carter and Brian Orakpo each had 11-sack seasons, taking advantage of the blocking attention given to Haynesworth. The Redskins' miserable 4-12 season wasn't pinned on the defense, which ranked 10th. The Redskins lost because they couldn't score points."

    WE can score points...

He's not on the block according to the Redskins, so no. :p

What exactly would we trade to nab him, without getting rid of valuable picks that is.

Picks are too overrated. I mean marshall faulk went for a 3rd round pick. Get hayesworth. The texans need to do something.

I guess that's my question. We don't have a 3-4 NT, AJ/Cushing/Ryans are going nowhere, Slaton's value is as low as ever coming off a bad year and surgery, etc... unless they move Orakpo to OLB, and think that Amobi would make a really good 3-4 end (doubtful), it would have to be picks.

And I know the Skins say he's not on the block, but it definitely has "Jay Cutler v. The Broncos" potential: He's a volatile personality that could take the trade attempt as a huge slight and cry his way out of town. I image he'd love to play for us, too. We're not only "this close" to being a contender, but he'd get a chance to stick it to the Titans twice a year, and stick it to Washington next year... right? (Don't we play the NFC East in 2010?)

although i do question how much effort you will get out of him, the potential factor alone is worth getting him.

That being said, I dont see the redskins moving him since they have mcnabb and are in the "win now" mode.

Haynesworth is a MUCH better prospect.
With him, expect Pollard and the CBs to get more INTs
