This far into the season, who would you rather have as your starting center for the Rockets? Chuck Hayes or Samuel Dalambert? Chuck Hayes isn't very tall or extremely athletic, but boy did he make up for it in how hard he worked. Great player to have on a team, and was glad the Rockets had him. He isn't great offensively, but passes and rebounds well and is a good passer. Heres his stat line this year. Obviously a bit of a drop off from last, as he's only started in 9 games this year: PPG: 3.5 RPG: 4.7 APG: 1.4 BPG: .4 STL: 0.6 Samuel Dalamber is much more of a traditional center standing 6'11" and weighing 250 pounds, but will probably never hold as special of a place in Rocket's fans hearts as Hayes has over the past few years. He is also a more viable offensive option then Hayes was, as Dalambert has certainly had his moments this year. He has slightly better stats then Hayes had last year with the Rockets, so its about a toss up. Here's his stat line: PPG: 8.4 RPG: 7.6 BPG: 1.9 APG: 0.6 STL: 0.3
Sorry haye's got defense but Dalembert is as GOOD haye was HEART and Strong but if he was tall as Bear then Hayes but Hayes still the Heart of team..but Dalembert is worth it...we shoulda sign him long-term to be honest and find a PF that's same height and as good we be unstopabble...
Keep in mind the contracts though. One is a 4 year contract. The other is a 2yr contract with a buyout for the 2nd year. It's much easier to trade Dalembert than Hayes if the Rocket need to do so.
I love the Chuckwagon as much as anybody, but if we're talking the starting Center spot, it's Dalembert without a doubt. As great as Chuck Hayes is, he's not a starting Center.
Who played last night down the stretch against Dirk? (Hint: It wasn't Dally) Hayes is the superior player. And with Camby on the bench, Hayes would make so much more sense than Dally.
Hayes has the intangible and leadership Dalembert doesn't have. Dalembert blocks shots. But our interior defense hasn't improved at all. Maybe Camby will help.
Love Hayes to death, but Dalembert's shotblocking is just what we need. Add Camby to that and 48 minutes of interior defense and 2 7 footers, and I love the Center spot
Dah Bear! I love Hayes' work ethic motor and IQ as much as anyone, but Dalembert's physical tools just demolish Chuckwagon's.
Hayes is the better one on one player but Dalembert provides paint protection, something Hayes couldn't really do effectively which is why as a C its got to be the bear. Ideally you'd have them both together, I have no idea why DM didn't match the 6M contract in the first place Gasol or no Gasol.
