I'll start this off by putting some All-Star caliber guys on the block:

After finishing with the best record and losing in the first round, followed by losing the wildcard position with a 4 game lead in the last 8 games the Mariners have decided to rebuild.

I will consider trading these guys now:

CL Kazuhiro Sasaki - 127 saves in last 3 seasons. Arguably the top closer
    1B John Olerud - .318, 26 HRs, 108 RBIs last year
RP Jeff Nelson - Arguably the top middle reliever in baseball
2B Bret Boone - .288, 107 Runs scored last year
2B/SS Quilvio Veras - Had an off season batting only .246 (average around .280's normally), but got 82 RBIs, 83 runs and 50 stolen bases

Some other minor guys could be traded as well...

I'm looking for young (27 and under) guys possibly at these positions: 1B, 2B, SS, SP, RP, CL

I'd be willing to give you a decent prospect in return for Nelson or Sasaki. Not too great, since both guys are sort of old, and I'd be in essence trading for two years of a relief pitcher.

Jeff Kent is semi-available for the Giants.

I need pitching, particularly a closer. I also need SP, but a closer is above that right now. Other needs are an OF and I might need a replacement 2B/SS if I trade Kent.

Of course, as always, I will consider all offers for any player and try to counter if I do not like it.

Jeff Shaw, Edgar Renteria, Mike Trombley for Jeff Kent, Pat Gutierrez (prospect)?

Shaw is one of the top closers in the game, and not too expensive.

    The Cat,

Shaw's age scares me a little. I don't want a guy that may retire on me after the season. Karsay or Nenn :) would work better for me, if you could trade them. Also, instead of Trombley, do you have any OF's you could give in his place?

Kent's age scares me too. :)

I might could include Karsay, but would want an additional prospect for doing so, since he's a lot younger than most of the other major league players in the deal. I could include Clay Bellinger as an extra OF, and I could also include Sterling Hitchcock if you need another SP...

Would something like Karsay, Bellinger, Renteria, Hitchcock for Kent, Gutierrez, Haas interest you?

Sele isn't that better than mcknight. I probably wouldn't do that trade straight-up... I certainly wouldn't with burke included.

    Dear Rangers:

You can't afford Alex Rodriguez, I can. We need to work out a deal. Larry Walker, Dmitri Young and Ramiro Mendoza for Rodriguez - think it over.

    Sincerely,
    The eYankees.

    Players available
    1B Jim Thome
    SS Omar Vizquel
    RF Raul Mondesi

Also available is several players in AAA with good stats (can play major league), some batting prospects can also be included in a deal.

I would want pitchers, starters or relievers.

Doug Mientkiewicz may be on the block. It would have to be a great offer, though. Here are his stats this year and all of last year:

    2003 .335 7 36
    2002 .324 22 129

I MAY POINT OUT that the BA and RBI numbers for both years were and are TOP 10 in the AL.

    Still on the block:

    Latroy Hawkins
    Chris George
    Corey Coskie
    Luis Castillo
    Jacque Jones
    Tim Salmon

    Make OFFERS BELOW :D

I'm gonna try to trade Adam Kennedy and Troy Percival.

Kennedy is solid, Percival is a stud closer. He's got a 1.96 ERA.

I'd like a setup man/closer in return, either

    1) Very old, very good, contract high, but over this year.
    2) Ok young guy, low contract.

    Thanks.

SF3- Sasaki fits one of these catagories. ;)

Because the Cubs are falling hopelessly out of the race, I've decided to place several veterans on the trading block:

Pat Hentgen: ERA around 3.6 the last 2 years, off to a slow start this year.
Mike Lieberthal: strong defensive catcher (throws out 39% of runners) who hit .280 and drove in 100+ runs last season.
Arthur Rhodes: dominant middle reliever (ERA around 2.5 as a MR last 2 season) struggling as a closer.
Eric Young: Fast, good defensive 2B who was the major league leader in steals the last 2 years; leading NL again this season.

All are solid players, and can be had fairly cheap for a team needing pennant-drive help.
