Just finished mine over the weekend.

In the past, I've just done them over the phone but this year, because of my bands earnings being reported, mine have been a little more complicated. I saved my reciepts and I was able to write off tons of gear. If I get audited, I'm ready.

I'm getting a small refund, but I would have ended up paying mucho taxes had I not saved my 2003 reciepts, so I'm happy.

    What about you?

I did mine as early as possible since I knew I would get money back. I got my refund around Feb 13th I think.

I used TaxAct, it was $9.95 plus a free efile.

We got a new bedroom set and a WS HDTV. ;)

Just sent off my extension.....haven't paid on time in four or five years. Hopefully, I'll only file one extension this year. I always owe.

I did mine in March...I usually procrastinate on everything, but taxes is something different...We got some back, but I had to pay NM State Tax for the first time and got some back as well...

Since I'm moving to Dallas soon, I'll be able to get all of my NM w/h next year...

I eFiled 2 months ago with direct deposit.

I received my refund automatically 2 weeks later.

I hate getting money back since it means the IRS had free use of my money for some time, but I hate paying at tax time worse. I try to estimate as closely as possible, so my refunds are never very big.

My ex let me claim one of my daughters this year, so I got 3 times back what I got this year. So needless to say I filed the first week of Febuary.

I love having a CPA for a sister. Initially, my refund was gonna be $385. However, since I did some contract work in Austin, my sister informed me of various deductions I could use and now my return is $875!!!

Sadly, I've never used itemized deductions, because they never total more than the standard deduction for my situation (single, no kids).

I've been doing that for a while now, and it helps. I have to have a CPA do my taxes, but the music stuff (reporting income but also writing off gear, concert tickets, CDs, travel to/from gigs, etc.) always pushes me into the next lowest tax bracket. That, plus the interest I paid on my mortgage, gave me a refund this year in the mid 4 figures.

Yeah, I'm buying a house this summer so next year's refund should be sweet. I was pretty conservative writing off gear. I didn't write off CD's, DVD's, concert tickets, mileage, learning materials etc. It was strictly gear.

Next year, I'm going to be more liberal in my writing off practices. ;)

Things may have changed, but when I did mine a couple of years ago, I did not get all my NM w/h back. They used a non-resident calculation to determine how much NM tax I owed. It was not a lot, but it was something.

I got a nice refund this year and like a few others it has taken the form of an HD TV.

You should, just keep it at a reasonable amount (I keep mine under $2K) and you shouldn't set off any alarms at the IRS.

My mother is a CPA. She'll never ever help me with my taxes (not that I need it). And, she always files an extension for her own taxes. It's kind of a cobbler-wears-crappy-shoes sort of thing.

My wife filed our taxes a while back and we got our refund on Monday. Not doing anything special with it.

I'm getting a substantial refund. Thank you George W Bush for your tax cuts.
