You know, when they play a certain song or a sound (bells, whistles, etc...) or audio from a movie, and they ask for caller #7 (or any number) when they play that audio and you win a prize. Has anyone ever won anything? If so, what did you win? About 10 years ago I won a Pearl Jam CD (the one with the song Animal on it) Since then no luck at all, until... Our local classic rock station is running a "Hall of fame" weekend and giving away all kinds of prizes. They started yesterday around 10am. They said to listen for audio from the Spinal Tap movie and the 7th caller would win a George Harrison "the Dark Horse years" Box set. 6 CD's (Digitally remastered) and a DVD of various videos and concert footage of George Harrison. Well i won!!! Yipee!!! Retail: $140
I won tickets to go see WAR ar Rockefeller's in '97. It was a contest given off kpft so the competition was pretty easy. We got there late, so they ended up giving us a table up by the front row because that was all they had left. It was great. Rudy T was there and he was GETTING DOWN!
I won tickets from KPFT to see Robert Cray at Fitzgerald's in 1980...a couple of years before he became well known.
i won Astros playoff tickets back in 97 from that oldies station. The only problem was they were for Game 4 and the astros were swept that year
twice when i was in Austin. the first time was tickets for a Helmet show, the second was for Metallica tickets in San Antonio. we drove all the way to San Antonio, got lost, missed the show. both were klbj
I won four tickets to the first day of the Academy National Invitational last year. It was alright . . . Thing is, since it was only the first day, I had to pay to see the second/third days (went to the third).
Yeah. A few times on a sports radio here in Toronto for trivia answers; for example the question was once what current player has the highest career sb %; it was Eric Davis, called in, and won a damned Obusform (sp?) back rest thingie. As I didn't have a bad back or a car, I gave it to my Dad who had both. A friend of mine used to work the night shift at a gas station when I was in high school, and as he'd be up, alone, late all night listening to the radio, he used to win tickets and stuff like crazy...at least once a month we'd get tix for a concert, often backstage passes, etc. Good times.
A familys' friends' son owns Double Daves. At least the ones in College Station, Woodlands, and the new one in the Champions area. I have not won anything on the radio. My brother won a couple free cds at Splashtown when 104 was there. You were only allowed to win one cd but when they changed people at the booth, we went back.
I've won a number of times. Working nights will do that for ya. Once, about 3 in the AM, I was trying to be the seventh caller for some tickets (I forget who it was for). The DJ answered "hello", and at first I thought I had the wrong number. I asked "What caller am I?", and he said "What caller do you want to be?" and I said "Seventh?" and he said "Congratulations, you win." No enthusiasm in his voice whatsoever. I must have been the only caller he had. Another time, Dean and Rog had a contest where you had to make your dog bark for a pair of Rocket tickets. I got in, and told them I had two dogs, can I win two pair? They said sure, so I got my dogs fired up and had them both barking. They gave me 4 tickets.
Yeah I have won a few things 2 tickets to the Pink Floyd concert @ Rice stadium A dozen roses for my girlfriend on Valentines Day 2 tickets to Slayer 2 tickets to Del the funky Homosapien 2 tickets to Atmoshpere a buddy of mine has won all sorts of stuff. concert tickets, auto show tickets, a free four hour sail boat ride...etc.
I won tickets to a Rockets game up in the nosebleeds from I think 700 AM (KSEV) or 610 (KILT). I answered a trivia question correctly during a late-night fantasy sports show. I had one of my friends call me the next day and ask "Was that you?!" I started laughing and said "yeah". I rarely called up radio stations for anything, too.
I won an NCAA 1997 stat book and a rice owls hat from 740 in november of 1997 after answering the following question correctly. Name 3 of the 4 major winners in golf from 1996?
