    Anyone have any experience (positive or negative) trying to hook up 2 of your friends?

    My girlfriend and I are trying to set up her best friend and my best friend on a blind date. We think they would be perfect for eachother. It doesn't hurt that it would be fun double dating with them.

    Should we do this? Or will it end badly? Thoughts?

    Sophomore year of high school I hooked up my friend Allison with this adorably nerdy black guy from my French class, Hugo. They both loved video games and speaking French. They're still dating now in college. I think they'll get married soon.

    I never matchmake under any circumstances. I've seen it done and I've seen the explosions that result. Never seen a positive result one time. Ever!

    Why not just let them meet "out of pure casualty" and pretend you didn't intend for this to happen? Let them hate each other first. They'll end up loving each other or just date through this BBS. ;)

    Well, I've never been in the matchmaker role, but I have had my love life effected by matchmakers. My wife and I met through my older brother and his wife (who was good friends with my now wife). Normally, I won't even accept dates set up by friends because I hate going into things like that not knowing what to expect. But this time it worked out pretty damn well. :)

    Three times, once as the "match-ee"....

    1. In 1997, I hooked the drummer of my old band in LA up with a woman who was my roomate in a duplex about five years earlier. They were married in 2000 and have a two year old child, and they are still going strong.

    2. In 1999, I was fixed up by an old childhood friend. He fixed me up with his wife's cousin. Led to a torrid 6 month romance that fell apart.

    3. About four weeks ago, my girlfriend and I (she and I have been seeing each other since September) fixed up a friend of hers with one of my best friends, and the four of us went out for drinks together. No spark whatsoever between the two of them.

    i think it's a recipe for disaster if you are good friends with both parties. when things go bad, expect them to expect you to pick a side.

    my ex g/f did this all the time, then she'd whine about how the couple would call her to talk about the other person.

    I've hooked up several couples, most recent of which got married 3 weeks ago. My favorite brother-in-law wouldn't be that if I hadn't hooked him up with my wife's sister 15 years ago.

    I thought about that, but actually her friends and my friends don't really hang out together anyway, so if worse came to worse, they would probably just both go their seperate ways and that would be that.

    She's pretty cute and she's VERY liberal.....and I don't mean politically, ya savvy?

    About two years ago, one co-worker and I were getting plowed after work consistently for weeks. This always resulted in me plowing her, loudly, after the bars closed. This lasted a couple months. I divulged all the kinked-up TMI to my roommates.

    She was, ahem, liberal as well.

    One of those roommates married her.

    Does that count?
