Yeah, one time I was drinking with some friends and we didn't stop drinking till 6am. I had to be at work at 8am, and I made it on time and stayed the full day. Not only was I drunk at work, but I also had my hangover there....
When I worked at a credit union as a loan officer, I got lit pretty good off some tequila on a Sunday night - it was the Super Bowl where my Broncos crushed the Falcons. I remember waking up like at 4 in the morning, thinking I was going to puke at any second. To make matters worse, I had to go to work because I was on vacation the whole previous week. So, I showed up - not drunk but with a horrific hangover. My supervisor (who was this real passive aggressive b****) asked me what was wrong with me - I told her that I had a hangover, lol. Looking back, probably not the best thing to say. But hey it helped start a wedge between us that led to me leaving that place and finding a better paying job and better job overall in what I do now.
Yeah, my worst one is very similar to this. Best buddy of mine was getting married. Bachelor party was Thurs night. I didn't get back home til 6 a.m. I was so drunk, I figured I'd let it ride for the next couple of hours, throwin' a couple more back and then head out to work. It took me 30 minutes before I realized I was waaaaaaaaaay too wasted to be working. But at that point I couldn't really back out. By lunchtime, my head was THROBBING! In conclusion, call in sick.
here's to feeling good all the time!! -- Kramer i drive a school bus for elementary children. i'm usually drunk. not always, though.
Ha, funny thread idea! I've been drunk at work during college. Who hasn't? I worked at Sams Club in Conroe. It was one of those "uh oh, it's time to stop drinking, I have to be at work in 15 minutes" days. That happened a few times, actually... About 5 years ago, I worked at the Chase Bank call center on the Katy Freeway. If you've ever worked at a call center, you know they record your calls and grade you on them. You never know when they are recording so you have to do good on all of them. Well, this was a 24/7 call center and none of the "call graders" worked weekends and we all knew it. If you worked on weekends, you could say whatever you wanted to people. I worked Saturdays from 10 to 7. We used to bring squirt bottles filled with all kinds of concoctions. I used to answer my calls as Phil Hendrie characters. The girl I shared my bottle with used to use a HEAVY spanish accent. She would roll all her 'R's etc. Good times.
Been there, done that. Also got drunk at lunch while working rough construction quite often. Nothing like walking on 2x4's 20 ft off the ground using a circular saw or a nail gun after a lunch that consisted of a burger and 6 beers.
I've never been drunk at work, but back in college I had a job as a pizza delivery guy. Everyone that worked there was constantly high-- everyone! Looking back, that was probably my favorite job that I ever had. I just drove around listening to music and getting stoned to the bejesus all day. Then I'd head back to the office and smoke more. I'd be out delivering a pizza to a scary-ass apartment complex with no clue where the apartment I wanted was at 1:45 a.m. on a Saturday, scared ****less I'd be mugged. Then I'd get a call from the night manager on my cell, saying "Hurry the **** up and get back here, I've got a joint already rolled!" Being a kid was fun.
Yeah. At one of the law firms I worked at in Austin, the lawyer I worked for was an alcoholic. Anytime he took us out to lunch, he'd almost force (well, not me) us to get hammered, then he'd just send us home the rest of the day with pay. A co-worker one time had to go back to work and we felt bad and went back with her. I left an hour later after the office administrator had to come down and tell us to be quiet as I was on the floor cracking jokes. For the last four years, I've worked from home. So, I guess you could say I've been drunk at work numerous times.
Yeah I had a pretty crappy morning so I decided to toss about 4 down at lunch by myself at the Mason Jar on 10. Nice chicken sanwich and cold drinks.... too many cold drinks.... Oh well.
So I guess it's fair to say you've set different goals for yourself than say, Thomas Edison, Magellan, these types of people.
When I was 18, I worked at a Godfather's Pizza and used to drink the beer on tap during the slow Sundays. I then worked at a video duplication company and they had company parties and would put the left over beer and what not in the fridge, for the late shift. After that I limited it to smoking pot at lunch (this was 15 years ago and only a few times). After that I had a margarita at lunch, but it made me sleepy the afternoon, so I haven't done it since. Now if this includes hang-overs where I was still drunk from the previous evening it would be something like 100 to the power of pi. It has been a while since the last one.
