Have not seen this posted yet. If duplicated, please lock this up.

Geeeeeee how can you not be pumped up by the performances of Luis Scola and Chuck Hayes in the new Rick Adelman systems??

Surely hope they will be good fit to play alongside Big Yao, shoulder all those blue-collar dirty work, take away some of those tough and rough body bangs from Big Yao and together form one of those formidable interior tandem in NBA.

Are we safe to say we have solved that long-awaited missing piece of jigzaw on the position 4?? :D

Thanks, man. I can't get enough words and photos about training camp. Clutch has been great, and this is another exciting read about Scola, with a good word for Hayes tossed in. Gonna be a great season!

Wouldn't be surprised if Scola make the transition a head of schedule. He sounds like he's a perfect fit for Adelman's system. I have a feeling he's going to be more than a good NBA PF. He looked great vs team USA I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes our 3rd option before long.

Is Damien Pierce putting words in Adelman's mouth?

    1) If we come out the gate are winning by 15+ points, it could be a team of destiny or for the ages....most on this board should know a certain team won 15 games to start to season and went straight to the championship. Or if we go like 20-2, 17-3, 35-4, or 40-6.

    2) If we come out as pretty good team, 18-7, 20-8, 40-14, or 36-12, we should be one of the better teams in the league.

    3) If we come out how we did last year...we will be about the same

    4) If we start out with losing record....get to mid season with .500 record and keep improving ... we might be one of those teams that leaves up to expectation later on.

    5) If we lose and lose and lose, stay at .500, get people injured, and don't make it to playoffs or lose in the first around again...you can say the Houston Rockets will be rebuilding 08-08 season.

Too many possiblities, but this team should make it to WCF, if nothing else.

No. The reporter likely asked Adelman how he thought Scola's game would fit in next to Yao.

No I don't think Scola will be that good. Hopefully he isn't Spanoulis at the PF though. It seems Hayes is outplaying him already in the first 2 scrimmages based on the quotes.

Scola has several good things going for him that will bode well for his transition. He's a very instinctive player that has a good feel for the game, not just an athlete. In that international tournament this summer, he would always make decisive moves to the basket or be in the right place to receive the ball. Second, he's been studying the play book religiously and works hard (as articles have intimated).... By the way, sitting next to Shane, Scola looks way bigger and taller. He's got to be taller than his listed height.

    I beg to differ.

Achievement wise, who is Chuck Hayes when compared to Luis Scola?

The catch here is Chuck Hayes had been playing the USA/NBA basketball for years, and of course is more familiar at this stage in terms of NBA rules and style, and therefore he could be outplaying Scola in the scrimmage.

But it's just a matter of time for such adjustment.

Remember Yao Ming's rookie season? It took him just less than 5 to 6 games to be scoring 20 points and let Charles Barkley to kiss the @$$ of the donkey, and another 3 to 4 game to gain the starting centre position. Yao Ming also played baskektball per the FIBA rules prior to entering NBA.

So IMHO, with Luis Scola work ethics and basketball intelligence, it is not that difficult to adapt/adjust to NBA basketball. After all, basketball is basketball and he had already proven he is MVP materials in Spain, one of the top leagues in Europe and FIBA Americas Championship, playing against some of the top NBA stars.

I'm almost certain he will be a much better power forward than Chuck Hayes.

The Spurs drafted Scola in the 2nd round of the 02 draft. We drafted Yao 1st, but what did we do after that?

Well you cannot compare him to VSpan. He'll be good, cause he is great in Europe. But I still think another addition on PF wouldn't be that stupid...

We have a very good team, maybe a great team by the season's end. However, we also have a very rough starting schedule at a time the team is getting to know each other. For the faint of heart enthusiasm will be crushed. For those with patience and loyalty the Rockets will be more than just fine.

BTW, for those who wanted the Rockets to acquire David Lee, we got him -- on figurative steroids -- in Luis Scola. He could well be Rookie of the Year even over Durant.

Scola is, without a doubt, an upgrade over Chuck at PF. It's only a matter of how long it takes him to acclimate.

Comparing Scola to V-Span makes no sense. Viewing V-Span's highlights beforehand, I didn't see a lot that would necessarily translate to the NBA. Watching Scola play, it's VERY obvious how he will help on offense. Teams will be forced to guard him or they will pay dearly. That is an upgrade right there. Plus he instinctively attacks the basket and is a creative passer. Think about this: We will have 3 starters on the floor who are very good post passers to Yao: Scola, Shane and Tracy. With that on the floor, it almost doesn't matter who is "distributing" at PG.

My main concern with Scola is defense. He's gonna need a lot of help in the beginning and it could get pretty ugly. But it's only a matter of time before he figures things out.

Turn the page. We are in a new chapter of Rockets history. Let us allow the JVG past to rest in peace.

Yes, it is new team, a new hope. No more JVG talks. To me, we do solve the problem at 4, but we still can enhance the position by trading one of the guards, I think Morey is thinking it every day.

Everytime I hear the word "missing piece of the puzzle" I throw up a little bit in my mouth. It is like the 4 millionth time I have heard of it.

It's fun to see someone blast a cliche with another cliche. ;)
