Going into this season, there were very high hopes for this team. When Yao went down, it seemed to take the air out of the tires. Since then, nearly every one of these prize pieces we've been collecting -- both starters and role players -- have underperformed. Those gleaming assets now look pretty tarnished, and I think the view is the same to GMs around the league.

Think about it. Who's value has *increased* this season?

    Lowry
    Patterson

Not coincidentally, I would imagine those two are the ones Morey has no interest in trading.

Players whose value has remained roughly the same:

    Battier
    Scola
    Hayes

Players whose value as trade pieces has dropped:

    Brooks
    Martin
    Budinger
    Hill
    Miller
    Yao

Ish and TWill haven't logged enough playing time to matter at this point.

I think our horrendous start and the poor play by most of the team have really handcuffed Morey as he tries to pull the trigger on a big deal at the deadline.

In simpler terms: Who wants THIS crap?

Where does the blame for all this lie? With the players themselves? Adelman? Just bad luck?

What's your logic behind saying Martin's value has decreased?

I disagree strongly on Martins value decrease. If anything it has returned to its alltime high in his career.

You forgot about Lee who I would say has increased his value in the past few weeks.

I was thinking about that while re-reading my post. Martin may be among those whose value has remained the same. But sometimes these one-dimensional players with great stats lose value when they get traded and don't show something MORE for their new team. Shareef Abdur-Rahim, for example.

Regardless, at BEST Martin's value has remained the same -- it certainly hasn't increased.

Martin's stock is up. He's having a much better season than last couple years.

Thats just so untrue its not even close. Martin was having bad year last year due to injury for Sacramento and people thought he may be on the decline. He proved by bouncing back to near alltime highs in every category he just had injuries. Plus he hasnt been injured for a while. Suggesting he is more reliable on the injury front than people thought. His value no doubt is near a stars level. Just not Superstar level.

How do you get that? Martin's numbers are down slightly across the board compared to his last two full seasons with Sacramento. And with Martin, it's all about the numbers -- he certainly doesn't bring intangibles.

km's value has been defined. everyone knows what he can and can't do. there is no such thing his value is decreased.

as yao went down, small trades or trading for 2nd fiddle players are over for us. i am still getting confused why we traded our 1st round pick for TW after yao was gone. now, we need to get as many 1st round picks as we can and hope we can land one superstar potential young player.

i am completely against wasting picks to get one of centers alot fans here are rooting for, such as nene, gortat, theebat, and .... except DH, Mark Gosal, and Lopez. those are centers a team can build around. i rather to use a pick to get young center from draft.

Brad Miller never had any to start with - except as an expiring when the time comes.

Yao's was negligible too as he also was primarily an expiring.

Basically Brooks and Bud, via the curse of DaDakota, are the guys who went from commodities (alphadogpack!) to guys who aren't as in demand.

You're also forgetting Courtney Lee who is apparently sought after.

    What, are you kidding?

Courtney Lee, given 32 mpg, would stand out on a team. Good 3rd option, plays both ends of the floor.

Patrick Patterson might just end up being a stud.

Terrence Williams and Aaron Brooks, alas, are in situations where no one really wants to bite, or, at least, give up much of value.

Main thing is, Which of these players would the Rockets give up and for what? If the price is right, pull the trigger, Morey, but keep Patrick. Please.

I think it has gone down because the next step for him would be to become the closer for a team. We virtually handed that role to him, and except for a few occasions, he hasn't been able to be that guy. Now teams know that, thus his value is down from when it was unknown if he could be that guy or not.

Lee, Patterson, TWill...... all these assets wont get you star players.
Without trading for a star players, any other trades are meaningless for Rockets.

For the read trades, you need top picks.

Imagine if Terrance would have stayed with NJ..

Deron would have made him into a star.

I love T-Will but he's not a 19 year old Big man with a Dwight Howard body.

we can't trade this years pick because we traded our 2012 pick. We only have the 2012 Knicks pick to trade. unless team will take our 2013 pick?
