Have any of you ever used escrow.com or another online escrow service?

    I want to buy a new cell phone (The Sony Ericsson p800, in case you cared) but I am cheap. I found a guy in the middle east who can get me one for about $650 shipped. However I am not really a trusting person when it comes to overseas deals, so I want to use an online escrow service that lets me pay with a credit card (for extra security) and then sends him the money via wire transfer.

    So have any of you used http://www.escrow.com? how did you like it? also if you have used a similiar experience please share that as well?

    That doesn't sound that cheap to me. . . what kind of features does that phone have?

    By the way, sorry I don't know anything about that service.:(

    haha I reread my post and realized that I wanted to spend $650 on a phone and that I was being cheap.

    You might have seen it in the opening sceen of die another day where the bad guy uses the camera to take a pic of bond and it then identifies him.

    They are selling for over $1000 here in the states because they have only just been released some places overseas and none of the american carriers will have the phone till late february or march, and I cant wait.

    Escrow scams are the biggest thing going these days.

    As far as what?
    Like they have me use a fake escrow service which really just gives them my CC # and they never send the product?

    BTW: He did not suggest an escrow service that was my thought.

    The biggest internet scam right now is exactly that, you send the cash, and they bolt without you getting the product.

    You don't need escrow, just use a credit card.

    I've never used an escrow service, even when on travel and staying in a lonely hotel room... though I think you can judge the sophistication of a city by how many escrow ads are in the yellow pages.

    I can't believe that that thing is worth $1000. Why don't you buy a cell phone, a digital camera and an organizer and tie them together with string? Don't knock it til' you try it Johnny.

    Well I'm not willing to spend more then $700 for it.
    A new cell phone would cost me at least $300, a PDA would probably cost me about $400, and I wouldnt have a digital camera. And it would be a pain to connect the cell phone to the PDA in order to send/receive email and surf real webpages.
