OK, I've always hated to dance, and hate it even more everytime I go out and people bug me to dance. I suck at it and am self-conscious as hell about it, which makes it worse. I don't drink so that is not a solution. I've given it a go at times to appease people but I end up feeling embarassed when I do, and a boring party pooper when I sit there watching everyonelse have fun. I love music but can't dance worth a lick! Any solutions besides: 1-drinking (which I don't and won't do); 2-avoiding situations where dancing might occur? Anyone else hate it?
Listen. Just go out there and pretend that everybody else isn't there. If you're latin though, then you have no excuse sorry. Thats like a black guy who can't play bass guitar.
take classes and get good. I hate dancing alone, e.g. like hip hop dancing...personally i think it's pretty lame. But with a chick, its all good. Just get out there and follow her lead if you arent sure what to do. It's a ton of fun to dance with a girl to a fast 2 -step song, salsa or one of my favs, cumbia. I'm not that good either, but as long as you are somewhat coordinated, the girl wont mind because she will be having a blast.
You don't drink and you can't dance...Hrmm sounds to me like you shouldn't go to clubs. Instead of socializing on a Saturday night, you could always build a dojo in your attic and practice kung fu and meditate broodingly on your loneliness.

So far got the responses I expected Royals Ego, that video clip is hilarious. I am not latin, and am kind of embarassed to take classes too Why can't it just be something I am not good at and everyone accept it? Why do chicks dig dancing so much? SwoLy-D, everyone says the same thing that b/c I can ball on the futbol field I should be good at dancing but I've had a fear since a young age and avoided it/never practiced to where I am just horrible and get too embarassed to let loose.

Dancing is not a bad as people who are afraid of it think. I don't think a lot of people know how to dance, they just copy what everyone else is doing. My husband doesn't know how to dance, but we still do and I get dizzy because I feel like we just keep spinning around and around AND AROUND. If it's dancing at a club/night club music that's the easiest to dance to. Just feel the beat! If you don't know how to feel the beat, just copy someone who does. Don't worry what other people are thinking about your dancing skillz, I doubt they're ballroom dancers.
can't say I do... Infact I enjoy to.. I can and will.. pretty much do any form/style of dance.. except swing... ballet.. and hip hop/grind.. didn't or haven't learned the first one.. obviously ballet is pointless and rather useless on a dance floor.. especially for a man,dance floor or stage.. and greatly dislike the last one..
