Note: Please no VY trolling in this thread. Plenty of other threads for that. OK, so I actually slept through the Texans game yesterday (seriously) but I heard Kub's post game interview and he strikes me as a coach who has just about given up on Carr. He was chewing him out after almost every series and pretty much ran the ball exclusively during the 2nd half. In the interview with Bob Allen, he was asked about QB play and he just seemed very unfomfortable answering it. He said he'd look at the film and comment later, or something to that effect, then went on to praise Dayne, the defense and special teams for getting us the victory. Cleary he wasn't happy with Carr. It's been 12 games now plus a whole offseason and Carr is making a lot of the same mistakes he made last year. Holding the ball too long, fumbling, etc. He actually seems to be getting worse. Yes, I know about the 2 missing O-lineman. He's still getting worse. I just have a strange feeling that Kubiak has already made his choice and when he cleans house this offseason (like we all know he will) Carr will be gone, one way or the other. Thoughts?
He looked like he was done with Carr yesterday on the sideline, just didn't have anyone else to put in since Sage was hurt
So how many time do we have to say it ..... DAVID CARR sucks! this team will NEVER go anywhere with him being QB! PS: Reggie Bush 4 TD , VY beats Indy (something Texans could never do)
Factors from yesterday leading me to believe he's made his choice: 1. post-game interview you mentioned...avoided talking about carr. looked very uncomfortable when asked to comment on him. evaded the question entirely. 2. he took the ball out of carr's hands entirely in the 2nd half. started running on 3rd and long. did that over and over again. was content to settle with FG's because, as best i can tell, he feels like he can't trust carr. 3. the looks on the sidelines. kubiak would chew him out and then walk away. carr's body language looked like that of a beaten man. 4. the fact that Carr fumbled 3x yesterday. kubiak has said over and over again that he won't excuse that. that you have to hold on to the football. Had Sage not been hurt, he would have been playing yesterday.
I have been one of Carr's biggest supporters over the last 5 years. I, however, am done. There is just something missing with him. I don't know if it's confidence in himelf, his teammates, his coaches, or if he's just a mental midget. Either way, the David Carr Expierence should come to a close after this season. I'm not sure who's available as far as free agent vet qb's go, but drafting a qb is very important this time...Carr or no Carr. I'd love to get Kolb, especially if they could wait and get him in the 2nd round or later. Would Kubiak give Plummer another shot since he'll clearly be out of Denver?
I noticed and have been wondering the same things. I saw Kubiak chewing Carr out after every series. Kubiak had frustration written all over his face. I honestly think Carr's days as a Texan are numbered unless he shapes up real fast.
The Texans will trade Carr in the off season...straight up for Rex Grossman. Let's review the options: Byron Leftwhich - no Jake Plummer - no Chris Simms - Bruce Gradkowski isn't the answer, look for Chris to be back in Tampa,. A Carr/Simms trade would play well in Houston but I don't think Gruden would do that deal. Brian Brohm - use #1 on a rookie, that means you're 3 years away and Kubes might be gone. (If the Raiders don't take Quinn this year they may bury that old man before he's dead in Oakland) The money is spent, the die is cast. Kubiak will put the heat on Carr like Tiger Balm in his jockstrap. He will either make him a QB or neither will get another contract with the Texans. There is always a chance there is some unknown out there that will come in to the Texans camp next year and have the reins by mid-season but I don't think it would be Rosenfels over Carr
I was not for the Texans drafting Vince Young. That looks like a horrible mistake at this point. Mario Williams has been non existant the last few games.
interesting. i can't imagine kubiak sticking with carr next season. but the texans do a lot of things i can't imagine doing, so who knows.
Yea I agree. I didnt think Vince would be this good his rookie season. He's not putting up amazing stats but the guy just knows how to win. Carr has been in the NFL 5 years and to have 35 yards passing is a crying shame.
hahahahahaaaa!! You have a right to post your take, and I have a right to laugh my ass off at how stupid it is!!!! ...oh, and as a fan of DC I must say that he sucked *hard* yesterday. A heapin' helpin' of crow may be in my near future; we shall see.
i like mario williams. i think he's gonna be really good. but not first pick overall good. i just don't see it. i'd be pleased to be wrong about that one, though.
That's a dream. I wouldn't be surprised if Kolb jumped up to the first round after the combine similar to Jay Cutler last year.
Didn't get to see the game. Just looked at the box score last night and I'm still trying to figure out how we won it. Apparently our defense either forced a lot of turnovers or Oakland handed it to us somehows because if you look at the offensive statistics, we should have been beat in this game about 24-7.
I'm still glad we took Mario Williams and I have no regrets on that decision. He definitely looks like he will be one of the league's best defensive ends by next year. I thought David Carr deserved one more year to show his worth and improve under a new coach, and I've always supported him. But like others, I have come to the end of my rope with him. He had his chance to show that he can be a great quarterback in this league, and he has demonstrated he has the tools to do it -- great completion percentage leading the league, high quarterback rating, athleticism etc. But he just can't lead an offense on the field for some reason...still fumbles too much, still makes dumb mistakes. After yesterday's game, I'm tired of it -- I'm tired of the frustration of waiting for all that ability and potential materialize into winning excitement. Let's go get us a new quarterback. Kevin Kolb looks like he could become a great NFL gunslinger, and he's mobile enough to thrive in Kubiak's offense. Git 'er done.
Drafting in the first round is a very inexact science and really takes 3 or 4 years to evaluate in most cases. If the Texans had taken Ryans with the #1 we would have rioted but after 1 year he is certainly as good as any of the top 5 picks.............no need to rehash Williams, he's a good player and will be for a long time. Carr and the alternatives is this thread, and I say, Carr is it, unless something out of the blue happens. Romo is the current dream scenario, but he sat on the bench 4 years and was an afterthought behind Drew Henson.
