We're just two pre-season games in but I want to talk about this considering our position with two other prospects(Williams, Morris).

I just haven't seen significant improvement from his rookie season. He still doesn't move that quickly with the ball, can't make his own shot, and still a streaky shooter. Some people were projecting him to be our future SF, even All-Star, not too long ago.

He is what he is. He's a good spot up shooter and a fastbreak player that can occasionally drive to the basket and finish. Decent player overall and a good 6th-7th man type of guy.

Pretty sure that was one person.

Anyway, I hope you're not expecting much more than, "it's too early to tell". Because that's the only reasonable response. I don't think his upside is particularly high though.

bud is an average maybe above average player but personally i hope he gets traded to clear up room for the beast aka t-will who has more upside than chase. I also hope kmart gets traded because he doesnt make his teammates better. he just scores. its time to develop the future and stop milking the present

this will be the season that determines his future role in nba. If he improve defense then he will be an average starter at peak. That being said, I think that his best role is to come off bench and provide offensive punch.

Very good question. It's hard to tell because he came on so well late last season. If he has, no problem. He just needs to focus on his defense and fine tuning that shot now.

imo, yes. which is unfortunate because while he has the offense game of a good 7th man spot up shooter, his defense still sucks. it's defense that makes a great role player.

No he has not but I don't think his ceiling is much higher.

Bud will be great for a contending team's sixth man. He can bring a spark of offense off the bench. That's about his ceiling which isn't that bad.

he hasn't shown the type of performances that make me think he's got more left to show us. he's very steady in terms of offense but I don't see any flashes of a higher talent level, unlike say, a messy player like Twill. i'd be satisfied with bud except he's bad on defense. you need more than just spot up shooting in order to be a truly significant contributor to a championship level team. in order words, if we make the moves to be a contender, he's not gonna still be on the team. or if we do, he'd be considered part of a weak bench.

If we are judging after 2 pre-season games, then Martin should be benched before Budinger. Martin has stunk.

    It's preseason!

Has he peaked? What is his peak? I mean he's a shooter who moves decently without the ball and is a liability defensively. That's his game his rookie year and his 10th year. See Mike Miller and Kyle Korver. He is however a more rounded player than Steve Novak, and an under-rated passer. Consider he's not even making a mil, he's a valuable piece to this team. Like the others mentioned, a solid 7th or 8th person.

Please stop basing everything on the preseason because then you would think Kevin Martin can't ball

Of course he hasn't peaked. I've seen an improvement in defense from him in the preseason personally.

His biggest area for potential improvement is in his mental toughness. It's not something as visible as a new skill, but it will bump him up from being an average player to a good player.

If Chase becomes mentally tough, with his athleticism, speed, and shooting ability, he could be a good offensive player and a decent defensive player. Either way, no matter who the best player is among him, Morris, Parsons, and T-Will, we will have ourselves a good player at the 3.

I can hardly wait for the gloss to rub off the shiny new penny that is M-Mo. Morris is a PF who was too small to play there. M-Mo can't space the floor as well as Bud because his shot is not as consistent, and the jury is still out on his defense.

On the other hand, T-Will is last year's shiny new penny with a little buffing. He is too short to play SF, but I think he has a future at SG if ever he can screw his head on right.

I think his defense can't get much better. Offensively he can't help but improve from that stinker of a year he had last year in terms of outside shooting. I fully expect a PER in the 16 range.

And THAT will probably be his peak I'm afraid.
