I remember reading a long, long time ago about an average Joe who recounted his experiences of hiring a butler for a weekend. I couldn't find it again but has anyone here have had a classical live-in maid/butler?
I dont have a live-in, but Ive pretty much always had a maid come to my place about 2-3 times a week.
I had a rather foul-mouthed chambermaid named Peggy when I was growing up. She actually worked for David Letterman at one point. <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c_eDBITOvyk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I grew up in a house full (cook & servants). Each room had an button that rang a bell in the kitchen quarters...plus the ones at your foot under the dining room table. It never felt awkward until i went overseas for school & returned home for the 1st visit (9-10 yrs old). Specifically, my dad ringing the bell in the lounge to order a drink, obliging someone to cross the house & stairs simply to serve a coke that was available in the adjacent room/bar. That was the beginning of many "Master Harold and the Boys"-moments.
My sister lives in Thailand and has had up to 5 maids and 3 drivers for her extended family's home. She currently has 2 drivers and 3 maids. I visit here once or twice a year and its pretty cool.
well once i was in an accident and the other guy didn't have insurance so the judge sentenced him to be my butler
I've had maids living overseas. Their very affordable, in fact in the average middle class household has one in some Asian countries. Though I never liked ordering random ladies around. If I want something I'll do it myself.
(large image) Spoiler for an annoying as she was, just a few years after that show ended she decided it was time to look good. Would have definitely had my way with her.
