Going from Austin to Vegas and they had the lowest flight fare and the only nonstop. Ive read some bad reviews on them but was wondering if anyone here had any experience with them, be it good or bad?
can't be worse than spirit. Regardless its a 2-3 hr flight, as long as you get there, that's all that matters.
Wow, there is a carry on fee. Dont know the price but that in itself is a deal breaker. Yeah, Im not worried about nor care for amenities on a flight thats only 2 hours its the service Im worried about like delayed flights.
I did some digging before I bought my own Vegas tickets last week. Apparently, they have a $15 carry on fee (goes up to $23 if not declared at booking??). Don't know too much about the service itself, but ended up booking a roundtrip flight from Houston - Vegas for $350 instead. Goodluck
Flew Spirit, which I imagine is the same. Just do your research. Nothing beats a $162 flight from Niagara Falls to Fort Lauderdale, round trip, booked three days in advance.
On Spirit, you're allowed a personal item. Its basically the size of a carryone. I took a large backpack, and my wife took her carry on. No charge. Just put her purse inside one of the bags, because its a personal item as well.
I flew Allegiant from Vegas to Austin in February. The flight was extremely cheap ($90) and I believe you have to pay something like $15-$30 for for a carry on if it is too large to fit under the seat. If I remember right I ended up just paying the same fee to check my bag. It's basically just a cheap a-la-carte airline, I didn't have any problems with the flight though.
It's dirt cheap, but they nickel and dime you on EVERYTHING. I had a flight attendant give me attitude for bringing a drink on the plane. She said that I had to either pay for their drinks or not drink at all. If your trip is short, it's an ok flight. With that said, I don't use them to fly home to Arizona anymore.
Nope, not a promotion. They do nickel and dime you for everything, but if you get the flight cheap enough then you're still saving money.
From my untrained, anecdotal experience I've noticed that allegiant's prices mirror that of a United or Delta or Alaska Air (I can't fly Southwest out of Eugene) if you book far in advance. Where Allegiant has them beat is when you have no lead time. If I need a flight next week to Phoenix, I'll go Allegiant. If I need a flight a month from now, well then I'll look a bit deeper and find something else.
Yeah, so far the difference between Allegiant and AA for my trip is about 50 bucks. I think Im gonna go with AA. If I wouldve found a ticket for 90 bucks though, Id take my chances. Ive got plenty of nickels and dimes to throw at a rude flight attendant that told me to put my snack away. Thanks for the input and help guys.
Here is a screen shot of their luggage policy. Also, it appears they charge you for the particular seat you choose.
I flew them from iah to las back in 2002. It was a very old 727 that kept dipping in the back as if it were a ship on a bumpy ocean. And then every few miles or so the plane would drop. Probably just epically bad turbulence. We got to our destination so guess I cant complain. Though expect Allegiant to have second hand aircraft. Probably 20+ years old md80 or 757.
I know they're different companies, but I reiterate that I had a wonderful experience on Spirit. New plane, nice employees. Even was upgraded to an exit row seat. The gate agent saw I was taller than most on the flight and asked if I wanted the extra leg room. Just do your research, like I said. Know what they charge you for. I can drive two hours to the airport for a direct flight for dirt cheap if I want to do a cruise. Not a bad deal. Will do it again.
