Has anyone ever seen the NBA CrackSmoker list? http://www.cracksmoker.com/NBA1.htm I came across this list in another forum, it's must-have for every NBA forum poster who needs ammunition against other team's players. It is VERY LONG so I only pasted players A-B, use link to see rest of players. If this topic has been posted before, I missed it, has anyone else ever seen it? ---------------------------------------- A Back to Top ABDUL-JABBAR, KAREEM Basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was arrested Tuesday night for investigation of driving under the influence of mar1juana. The former Los Angeles Lakers and UCLA star was taken into custody about 7 p.m. after a police officer who pulled him over for speeding smelled mar1juana fumes coming from the open window of his car, said Officer Eduardo Funes, a police spokesman. Abdul-Jabbar failed a field sobriety test administered near the San Fernando Valley intersection where he was stopped, Funes said. He was taken to a local jail, where he was booked on the misdemeanor charge and released on his own recognizance. "Mr. Abdul-Jabbar was very respectful of the officers who arrested him, and very cooperative," Funes said. Tuesday marked the second time in two years Abdul-Jabbar has run into trouble with the law over mar1juana. He paid a fine in the spring of 1998 after surrendering a small amount to officers at an airport in Toronto. The basketball great has said he uses the drug to alleviate the migraine headaches that have bothered him for years. "I use it to control the nausea which comes with the headaches," he said during a book signing earlier this year. espn.go.com/nba/news/2000...40771.html ABDUL-WAHAD, TARIQ Denver Nuggets guard Tariq Abdul-Wahad drove down the lane Tuesday at the Pepsi Center. Dallas Mavericks forward Michael Finley stole the ball and took it the other way. Abdul-Wahad did not give chase. "Run back on defense," Nuggets coach and president Dan Issel yelled to Abdul-Wahad. The fourth-year guard directed an expletive toward Issel and said, "Don't talk to me like that." Issel yanked Abdul-Wahad from the game, replaced him with Voshon Lenard. Abdul-Wahad repeated the expletive to Issel. Things didn't get any better for the Nuggets. Dallas went on to win 104-88. Time will tell if the exchange between Issel and Abdul-Wahad was a brief misunderstanding or a sign of a deeper problem. Issel signed Abdul-Wahad to a seven-year, $43.3 million contract in August. insidedenver.com/nuggets/1025nugs1.shtml ALEXANDER, COURTNEY Charged with assault and battery after hitting, choking and kicking his girlfriend -- and mother of his baby boy -- in the ribs last July. cbs.sportsline.com/u/comm...z32098.htm ALSTON, RAFER Rafer Alston, the Bucks' second-round pick in June, was jailed Tuesday on an arrest warrant issued in July because he violated his parole. He is accused of failing to complete an anger-management class and now faces a possible jail term. Alston pleaded no contest to the September 1997 assault on his former girlfriend and was required to complete a one-year anger-management course as part of his probation. For the assault he was fined $200 and suspended from two weeks of basketball practice and three games. He was suspended again in April 1998 for failing to complete probation and entered the NBA draft. search2.usatoday.com:80/p...y%29&docid =1024&docdb=sports&dbname=sports&operator=AND&TemplateName=predoc.tmpl&setCookie=1 ANDERSON, GREG "CADILLAC" Greg "Cadillac" Anderson blames bad judgment and a poor choice of friends for his fate: an imminent prison sentence for participating in a cocaine deal to which he has pleaded guilty. In Sunday's editions of the Houston Chronicle, the 10-year NBA veteran said he allowed himself to be drawn into a drug deal as a favor to friends. The deal turned out to be a setup in an FBI drug sting. Anderson and three others pleaded guilty Oct. 20 to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He faces a maximum of 40 years in prison, but federal sentencing guidelines mean he'll probably serve three to four years in prison with no chance for parole. Anderson's almost certain road to prison began last season while he played for the Atlanta Hawks. He says he didn't know new friend Howard Hill, whom he met at an Atlanta nightclub earlier this year, was a Biloxi, Miss., dope dealer. Anderson also wasn't aware the other man he met that night with Hill, Anthony Bates, was a federal informant. "At that time of the evening, nothing else dawned on me," Anderson said. The pair began to hang out with Anderson last spring, going out to eat after practices and attending games at Anderson's invitation. He admits he became curious how the men could keep up with the NBA lifestyle seemingly without a job. "One of the guys said they were offshore," the native of energy-dependent Houston said. "I know people who go offshore for two weeks (on oil rigs), and are home for two weeks, so it didn't dawn on me they were doing anything illegal." espn.go.com/nba/news/1998...04149.html ASKINS, KEITH The NBA fined and suspended Keith Askins of the Miami Heat and Chris Gatling of the New Jersey Nets on Sunday for their roles in a melee during Saturday's game. Askins was suspended for two games and fined $10,000 for a flagrant foul on Keith Van Horn of the Nets and for spitting at the Nets bench after he was ejected. Askins started the fracas with 6:39 remaining in Saturday's game. As Van Horn went airborne on the fast break, Askins hit him with a forearm to the chest, knocking Van Horn to the floor. espn.go.com/nba/news/9803...05218.html B Back to Top BAKER, VIN 4/01 Seattle SuperSonics forward Vin Baker was dismissed from practice by coach Nate McMillan after Baker argued with him over fouls called during a scrimmage. Baker was unhappy that McMillan made calls that went against Baker's team during the Wednesday workout, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported. Baker stormed off the court and yelled profanities at McMillan, who virtually ignored Baker and concentrated on the scrimmage. Later, Baker told The Seattle Times that he regretted the confrontation, which he said was borne of frustration over the team's dim playoff chances entering Thursday night's game against the Houston Rockets. sports.yahoo.com/nba/news...baker.html BARKLEY, CHARLES 3/02 Former NBA star Charles Barkley is accusing Augusta National Golf Club of ``blatant racism,'' saying the reason behind recent changes to the course was to keep Tiger Woods from winning the Masters. ``Jack Nicklaus won the Masters six damn times, and he was hitting it past everybody else, and they never made a change,'' Barkley said in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated. ``What they're doing to Tiger is blatant racism.'' Recent renovations, which include nearly 300 additional yards, were announced by chairman Hootie Johnson the day before last year's Masters began. Woods won his second green jacket by two shots over David Duval. Woods was asked two weeks ago whether the changes were intended for him. ``I spoke to Hootie about the changes, and the changes are not for me,'' Woods said. ``They're for the kids that are coming up in the future. I'm not that long, anymore. I kind of dink it around. There are a lot of kids out there now in college golf and high school golf that hit the ball farther than I do. They're getting bigger and stronger, and the new technology is helping out.'' “We need black athletes to speak out,'' said Barkley, who poses bare-chested on the cover of Sports Illustrated appearing to break chains and shackles. ``Michael (Jordan) could do it and Tiger could do it, but you have to be willing to be ridiculed. I'm willing to be ridiculed.'' sports.yahoo.com/pga/news...sters.html More recently, you have Charles Barkley who tried to bounce pass a much smaller bar patron through a large pane glass window. goinside.com/97/12/league.html Less than a week after saying he hoped no criminal charges would be filed against Charles Barkley, a New York man sued the NBA star and the bar where they got into a fight. Tyler alleges in Friday's civil suit that Barkley punched him several times in the face and head at a Cleveland dance bar in the early hours of July 7. Barkley was at The Basement with fellow Dream Teamer Reggie Miller. Barkley told police Tyler made a lewd comment to a woman who was with Barkley and Miller, and that Tyler attacked him. Tyler contends he was permanently injured and will require further medical care. The civil suit alleges that punitive damages are necessary because Barkley has been in bar fights before, in Chicago and Milwaukee. espn.go.com/editors/nba/n...rkley.html Charles Barkley was fined for "directing obscene language toward fans" during the Rockets' season-opening 99-91 loss at the Lakers on Friday night. The crowd shouted at him after he taunted them with hand gestures. www.sportserver.com/gener...-0,00.html Based on a Sports Illustrated poll of more than 70 NBA players, these are the league's verbal villains: #3. Charles Barkley, forward, Rockets The funniest talker in the league. He once asked the deeply religious A.C. Green, "A.C., if God is so good, how come he didn't give you a jump shot?" Says Vancouver forward Pete Chilcutt, "If he's not talking, it's not normal." cnnsi.com/basketball/nba/...talkb.html BARKLEY, ERICK Even though they had been through it before, St. John's players were in an awful mood when they found out their leading scorer was ruled ineligible. Less than a half-hour before the 18th-ranked Red Storm took the court against Seton Hall on Tuesday night, they learned sophomore guard Erick Barkley would not be playing because the NCAA said he had broken a rule. St. John's, in a statement released at halftime, said it notified the NCAA on Tuesday that its investigation into possible rules violations concerning financial aid Barkley received while a student at Maine Central Institute in the 1997-98 academic year concluded there was no violation. The NCAA responded later Tuesday that it judged there had been a violation and informed St. John's to declare Barkley ineligible. The school said the nature of the alleged violation was that Riverside Church, an AAU program for which Barkley played, provided him with support in the amount of $3,150 out of fees and tuition totalling $21,500. It was the second time Barkley, the team's leading scorer at 16.7 points per game, was ruled ineligible by the NCAA this season. Barkley, who sat on the sideline Tuesday night and was unavailable for comment, was suspended for three games earlier this season for exchanging vehicles with a family friend. That punishment was reduced to two games on appeal. sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/ne...rkley.html 9/01 Trail Blazers Bonzi Wells and Eric Barkley are facing criminal trespass charges after they allegedly refused to leave the scene of a fight near a downtown nightclub. Police were called after about 50 people gathered in a private parking lot across the street from the club at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Brian Schmautz. Wells and Barkley shouted profanities at officers who asked them to leave, Schmautz said. Wells, Barkley and two others were cited for criminal trespass, a misdemeanor that is punishable by a fine or community service. sports.yahoo.com/nba/news...arged.html BATTIE, TONY Tony Battie allegedly tried to drive away while the long arm of the law was caught in the driver's window of Battie's car. Battie has pleaded innocent to charges that he dragged a police officer with his car during an attempted arrest last weekend. The Boston Celtics forward was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Wednesday morning. Battie was arrested around 2:20 a.m. Saturday in front of the Cosmopolitan Club near the FleetCenter. Police said Battie was asked several times by an officer to move his car, but refused. Police also said Battie refused the officer's request for proper identification and tried to drive off when the officer attempted to arrest him. The officer's arm was caught in the driver's window and Battie stopped the car only after the officer drew his pistol, a police spokeswoman said. Battie faces charges that include assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct, said Jim Borghesani, spokesman for the Suffolk County district attorney's office. Battie's next court date is May 12. espn.go.com/nba/news/1999...17467.html BENJAMIN, COREY Corey Benjamin's tenuous future with the Bulls suddenly pales in comparison to the legal trouble he faces after being arrested for domestic battery early Wednesday morning. Benjamin, 22, was accused by his 22-year-old girlfriend of slapping her during an altercation around 6:30 a.m. The Deerfield Police Department said she did not require medical attention. The couple have a daughter and shared the same residence, although a source said the woman returned to her California home with the child Wednesday. The Associated Press reported that incident began with an argument over buying diapers and the 6-6, 205-pound Benjamin broke down the door to his home after being locked out. Benjamin is in his third season with the Bulls and is guaranteed to make nearly $700,000 this season. But the athletic shooting guard is not guaranteed a roster spot and is a likely candidate to be cut from the team because of his erratic play. Benjamin's inability to grasp the complicated triangle offense has frustrated his coaches. He was transported from his home to the Lake County Bond Court in Waukegan for arraignment and was released on a $10,000 bond. He is not allowed to have contact with his girlfriend and has a Nov. 1 court hearing. www.suntimes.com/output/b...ll191.html BILLUPS, CHAUNCEY Two ex-Boston Celtics players have settled a lawsuit brought by a woman who says she was raped in November 1997 at the home of forward Antoine Walker. Ron Mercer and Chauncey Billups agreed to pay the woman an undisclosed sum, the Boston Herald reported today. But a third man who was accused, Walker's housemate Michael Irvin, has not settled because he has no money, his attorney, Willie Davis, said. Walker, who did not participate in the alleged assault but is accused of walking through a bedroom while it took place, also is named in the lawsuit. He has refused to pay. U.S. District Court Judge Richard Stearns has granted a motion to dismiss the case, but did not enter final judgment. A lower court has ruled that Walker had no duty to stop the alleged assault, but that ruling was overturned in federal court last year. Walker has filed a counter-complaint against Mercer and Billups, but those records have been sealed. The woman said she was raped by Billups, Mercer and Irvin in a bedroom of Walker's Waltham home after meeting the players at a comedy club. She also said Walker entered the bedroom during the assault, but declined Irvin's invitation to have sex with the woman. No criminal charges were filed. sports.yahoo.com/nba/news...rsuit.html BLAYLOCK, MOOKIE 2/01 Golden State guard Mookie Blaylock was stripped of his captaincy Monday after skipping practice to allegedly play golf. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay $35 ($28 U.S.) fine. espn.go.com/editors/gen/f...menba.html Atlanta Hawks guard Mookie Blaylock was fined $1,000 and sentenced to a year on probation Thursday on DUI and mar1juana charges. Blaylock, 28, was clocked at 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 75 at 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, 1995. Cobb County police found an open can of beer and a small amount of mar1juana in the car. State Court Judge Melodie Clayton asked the Hawks star if he had anything to say as she imposed the sentence and he answered, "No ma'am." The judge warned Blaylock, who was sentenced under the state's first offender law, that if he violates terms of his probation he will be required to serve his entire sentence. www.news-observer.com/new...56790.html BOWEN, BRUCE 3/02 Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs was fined $7,500 by the NBA on Sunday for kicking the Minnesota Timberwolves' Wally Szczerbiak in the face. Bowen's foul, early in the third period of Friday night's game, also was reclassified by the league office as a flagrant foul. With 7:55 remaining in the third period and the Spurs leading 52-41, Szczerbiak drove on Bowen and faked him into the air. Bowen's leg flew into Szczerbiak's face, catching him just below his right eye. sports.yahoo.com/nba/news...nfine.html BRAND, ELTON 1/02 The Clippers are fighting for victories on the road -- literally. After finishing their latest trip with a 1-5 record, the Clippers took a day off Wednesday to recover from their road travails, which included a bizarre fight Tuesday morning before a 97-83 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It began when starting forward Elton Brand and reserve forward Obinna Ekezie exchanged words before the team's shootaround, and the argument continued on the team bus back to the hotel. The two continued to argue when they arrived in the hotel. When swingman Corey Maggette got involved, a brawl with punching and shoving broke out near a group of elevators as well as on one of the elevators. A hotel security officer trying to break up the fight accidentally was hit in the face, and Clippers director of player development Jerry DeGregorio bruised his hand when he was thrown against a wall. The nature of the disagreement is unknown. www.dailynews.com/sports/.../spo12.asp BROWN, KWAME 4/02 Kwame Brown, the NBA's No. 1 overall draft pick in 2001 by the Washington Wizards, was arrested for driving 120 mph. Brown, a 20-year-old forward and the first high school player taken with the first pick of the NBA draft, was charged Saturday with speeding in a 60 mph construction zone. Sgt. Kirk Hartwell of the Laurens County Sheriff's Department said Brown was racing a motorcycle, but pulled over without any trouble. Hartwell said Brown will automatically lose his license because of his age and the excessive speed. Brown was taken to the sheriff's office, where he paid a cash bond of $1,200. Brown signed a three-year $11.9 million contract with the Wizards. sports.yahoo.com/nba/news...brown.html BUFORD, RODNEY Reserve rookie guard Rodney Buford of the Miami Heat has been charged by Miami Beach police with his third mar1juana-related offense in the past year. Buford was arrested early Sunday on a misdemeanor charge of mar1juana possession. Lt. Cathy Tighe said the 22-year-old player was pulled over in his vehicle at 2:08 a.m. Sunday for illegally tinted windows. Officers detected a mar1juana odor, and a search revealed a bag and pill bottle containing mar1juana. The latest arrest will count as an offense on Buford's NBA record only if he is convicted or enters a guilty plea. Police said Buford wasn't booked into jail, but signed a promise to appear in court. No date has been set. The arrest came six months after Buford was forced to return from the Heat's trip to Toronto by customs agents who discovered a small amount of mar1juana on his body. At the time, he was participating in a drug awareness program after pleading no contest Sept. 1 to driving under the influence of mar1juana in Nebraska. Buford missed two games with pay following the action in Canada but wasn't fined by the Heat or the league. In a statement released by the Grizzlies prior to Thursday night's game, Buford said he did not fail a drug test. ``I want everyone to understand that this suspension was not due to a failed drug test,'' Buford said. ``I was suspended because I was not available to be contacted by league officials.'' But attorney Steven Fishman said Wednesday that Bullock and Traylor did nothing illegal, and will cooperate fully with investigators probing Martin's ties to a lucrative gambling operation. Fishman would not discuss Martin's financial relationship with the players, other than to acknowledge they received what he said were loans from the retired electrician. Fishman did not say how much money might have changed hands. Sources have told The Ann Arbor News that while in college, Bullock accepted more than $50,000 in loans from Martin. sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/ne...oster.html
Pippen is a worthless and overrated punk, but smiling for a mug shot is too cool. Most mugshots have a tendency to reinforce the gravity and authority of the police station, whether the pose is that of a scowling badass, a scared and weary first-timer, or a befuddled repeat loser. A smiling mugshot has the effect of deconstructing, rather than merely opposing or resisting, the edifice of police authority.<p> That list was total crap, btw. Many of the people on it were guilty of no greater crime than making unwise remarks in public.
