If New Orleans manages to win-out and get the 8th seed, it means that every team in the division - Houston, Dallas, Spurs, Griz, Pels - would all make the WC playoffs. To me that's an incredible feat. Our 8-8 division record will kill us in tie-breakers but it's so unfair given the tough teams we have to play.

First time it happened was in 1983-1984 w/ the Atlantic Division.

In 1985- 1986; the Midwest division did - 6 teams including the Rockets.

The latest was the Central Division in 2006; Detroit, Chicago, Indiana, Cleveland, Milwaukee.... Although, two teams at exactly .500 and one below.

why focus on 2005-06? the 1985-86 link he posted was WORSE.

damn those are some ugly records making the playoffs in 86.

the western conference this year is on some next level stuff. the quality of basketball in this conference is at an all-time high.

Seriously! The Bulls were 22 games under .500...and made the playoffs. That's ridiculous.

I remember, growing up, thinking that 50 wins was something really special. Now it seems commonplace.

As posted above, it has happened but I don't think its ever been that all 5 teams have winning records. Southwest division of murder, and it's only going to get stronger with the continuing emergence of Anthony Davis :(

Yes, except that as Anthony Davis starts dominating, the Spurs will decline, Nowitzki will retire and the Mavs will drop, and the Grizzlies could implode at any time. The Rockets could fall to the injury curse, per usual.

Its ok, Dallas will fall out of the playoffs soon, restoring the balance. Dirk leaves AD and the NOP take their place. I'm ok with it.
