http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=6005596 Seems like these guys are looking for a place for Harris and someone to take Petro. Brooks, Hill, and Battier for Harris, Petro and a pick works cap-wise. If Hamilton, Billups and Melo are going to NJ...these guys want to contend now. They could use a Battier as a wing-stopper. If Denver doesn't want Harris, we could take him and they get Brooks instead (who they can keep or let walk in the offseason). I would think the Nets would want a big if they are shipping Favors...so we give them Hill. We take on Petro and get our pick back or something for our troubles. What do you guys think about Petro btw?
WHATEVER IT TAKES FOR HARRIS. PETRO WOULD BE A GOOD DEFENSIVE CENTER AS WELL. wont have to give up much..petro for them is a salary dump give them...battier + hill for devin harris and petro
What are you smoking? I'd rather have Aaron Brooks than Devin Harris. Devin Harris is a flopping SG in a PG's body. He's a terrible 3PT shooter and doesn't make his teammates better. Not to mention, he has constant injury concerns each year. Devin Harris is NOT worth losing Aaron Brooks for.
What am I smoking? This is what I am smoking: Harris is no superstar, but he's a just-sub-All Star type who plays solid defense and is an absolute rocket up and down the floor. More to the point, he'll play 38 minutes at point guard every night, thank you very much. No drama there. The best thing about Harris, and the thing coaches must love about him? He gets to the line. A lot. Per 40 minutes, we can expect Harris to get to the line for between 7 and 9 attempts this season, before taking into account changes in ball distribution. For comparison, Aaron Brooks had the ball in his hands a good amount last year, and got to the line for around 3 or 4 free throws per 40 minutes. Trading Battier for a PG of Harris's caliber would be nothing short of a coup. And Harris plays DEFENSE. Harris would be awesome next to Kevin Martin.
NJ doesn't want to give up Harris - he's in the deal because Denver wants him. NJ is trying to dump Petro for salary reasons. I'm sure they'd give him to us for a TE, if we could do that. Detroit doesn't want him either, but they might take him so they can lose Hamilton's contract.
My guess is that Denver flips Harris to Portland in a deal involving Andre Miller (whose salary is non-guaranteed for next season) and draft picks. Denver wants Batum badly, but Portland isn't dealing him.
Thats been what's been widely speculated, however I feel that we can offer up a better deal. They have Ty Lawson and can just sign Andre Miller in the off-season if they wanted. Batum is not just a filler so that's the big blocking issue there. I feel we can beat their deal.
Lmao. He is way too overrated. Need I remind everyone he was on the team that started the season 0-19?
I'm just not sure that Devin Harris is a star. I personally like him as a player, and he would significantly upgrade the Rockets' defense at the PG position. But he can't shoot nearly as well as Brooks can, and the Rockets may feel that they can re-sign Brooks on the cheap under the new CBA and stick with the Brooks/Lowry combination for less than a Harris/X combination. At Harris's salary ($8.98M this year, $9.32M in 2011-12, $8.5M in 2012-13), perhaps they think they can do better to upgrade the team overall.
So, what you're saying is if he could be 'stolen' then AB becomes a trade piece. You would also have a lot of committed $$$s (regardless of old or new CBA) at the Point.
Wow, Harris and Petro? Just a few more and my prediction will come true. The Nets will be our bench!!
