Yeah, I've been trying to cut down. Used to drink two Dr. Peppers a day. I've cut it down to one coke a week, aiming for one coke a month and then cutting it off completely.
I hopped on the keto diet wagon a few months back, since then, I have cheated here and there, but it's always with carbs, mainly pizza and rice. But a week ago, I drank a can of coke, oh my goodness, that crash was hard to put into words. In short, I'm done with soda and other drinks high in carbs (yes beer too).
I drink about one ginger ale a week with an occasional sprite. But that doesn't include stuff I get at bars
Although I recommend dramatically reducing or eliminating soda from a person's diet, there's a lot of inference and BS in that.
I can tell a difference when I drink a soda, since I don't drink them often. I feel sluggish and bloated and just, well, kinda gross... hard to explain really. I dont know how some people can drink a couple sodas a day.
I haven't had a soda in years, but was wondering about those natural soda's like Jones soda which use cane sugar. Are those also bad?
I think fructose and glucose are pretty much the same and so are the adverse effects to metabolism and whatnot.
Not quite. Glucose is literally the energy currency of the body; fructose has to be converted to glucose to be utilized. It's rather moot because table sugar is a molecule containing both fructose and glucose, but there is a difference. Several studies have shown that higher fructose consumption leads to increased fatty lipid levels and insulin resistance relative to glucose. I drink soda probably on average once per couple weeks, soo not to bad. I never buy soda so usually I just get it when I'm over at friends/family house.
We have a Soda Stream. All I use it for is carbonating regular water though. ...and the Ginger Ale for my Chivas Gingers.
