I'm so sick of people gushing over WB and his triple double's when our man is only 2 rebounds away from that, and we don't have our bigs boxing out for him. So I thought I'd start a thread to show some love to the beard who's leading the league in double-doubles (Normally a big man does it with points and rebounds), but Harden is having a historic season in his own right. http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/double-doubles/sort/doubleDouble I'm couldn't find who has the most double-doubles of all-time for a season. Wilt probably did it for a whole season (that man was a machine). Harden may get shafted again in the MVP race, but I can take solace in knowing that we have an all-time great playing for our squad. Hope he retires a rocket...none of that Toronto business
Regular Season (700+ club) 1. Wilt Chamberlain - 968 2. Moses Malone - 895 (has at least 968 if we count ABA) 3. Elvin Hayes - 890 4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 885 5. Tim Duncan - 841 6. Karl Malone - 814 7. Bill Russell - 785 8. Hakeem Olajuwon - 775 9. Walt Bellamy - 756 10. Kevin Garnett - 742 11. Shaquille O'Neal - 727 12. John Stockton - 714 13. Charles Barkley - 709 14. Bob Pettit - 708 **Artis Gilmore has at least 793 which is good for #7 all time if we count the ABA.
also, when it comes to triple doubles, Harden is the only player in NBA history to have 2 50 point triple doubles in the same season...he's also tied Oscar Robertson for the most 40 point triple doubles in 1 season with 5 I hope the Rockets send out these sort of facts to the media guys who are voting for MVP. Yeah, Westbrook has a ton of triple doubles this year, but Harden has had some truly special games. Let me know when Russ drops 53 points on just 26 shots to go along with 16 boards and 17 assists in the same game.
You forgot to say: Harden Career Dbl Doubles: 118 till today Fun fact: He had 0 double doubles and 0 triple doubles within 3 seasons as a THUNDER http://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/3992/james-harden
Awesome I couldn't find that stat, where'd you pull that from? Unlikely Harden will break that record, but it's still possible. If he does, I hope someone other than clutchfans mentions his history-making. And yeah, Os Trigonum, no shame in loving the beard
@split41 -So, James has 51 now. I'd say it's going to be real close. I googled it...fifth page, IIRC.
Are you listing just guards? Hakeem has 72 in 1992-92. Shaq had 68 in same year. And I'm sure Wilt had more than that, once. Record is probably 82.
Yeah, looks like he held the record in 84-85 (with 65 btw), later broken or tied 20 times. Hakeem's 72 is tops, since '83. This doesn't count '60s though -- or Moses for that matter. I'm pulling from bbref.com, which only goes back to '83 for double doubles.
Also, I'm pretty sure Oscar Robertson had a buttload of double-doubles over the first four years over his career, where he almost averaged a triple double all four years.
I'm pretty sure Wilt had several seasons where he had a double double in every game. His 61-62 game log: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/wilt-chamberlains-1961-1962-game-log.182740/ Dude had 70 games that year with 20+ points and 20+ rebounds. He's laughing from beyond the grave at this thread.
