For those who do.... Have a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe. Count your blessings, I thank God for mine. See you all Monday.
Name the first thing you get when you go to the grocery store Turkey... Name something you take to the beach Turkey... Name a bird you stuff Turkey...
My most favorite holiday of them all. I have had 4 day weekends for the past 13 years, plus all I have to worry about doing is eating, sleeping and watching football. Have a good one y'all.
RANT One of the great things about Turkey Day eve was that as a state employee we got off at noon. Well not this year. They blamd it on Rita. Guess what there are no students on campus today! Geez.
Hey, they pay me CRAP, but in exchange I get off early when the kids go home. It's an understanding we have. Until now apparently.
Little know fact, and don't try to snopes it, cause they are wrong too, but the first pilgrims were known to feast on Turtles for thanksgiving. They have evidence with all the turtle shells that were dug up on site in Maryland. Right down to the markings on thd shell. There is little to no evidence thatTurkeys were eaten. Research just hasn't been published yet. But take that to your family tomorrow and wow them.
Uh.. The Pilgrims landed at Plymouth in Massachusetts not Maryland. Of course there are turtles in Mass too.
I teach at a college; most of us choose to be nice and cancel our Wednesday afternoon classes, but this year the higher-ups sent out a message that all classes were supposed to meet. We all scrambled to cover our tracks. For instance: "I'll be there if anyone wants help to go over stuff" or "the door will be unlocked, the classroom will be open, but I won't take attendance and I might not be there either". My class was at 1:00 so it wasn't that bad, but I had already planned my lessons for the semester to have that day off. I couldn't come up with much (especially that wouldn't end up being an unfair advantage to the people who made it). I told them I wouldn't penalize if they weren't there. We just had a free-form discussion, tried to relate as much of it as we could to the class (I brought up a little bit of topical stuff), and left early. I guess they think most people don't have to drive that far. I had to drive all the way to the Arkansas line. Anyone else on the road? Surely some of you were. Since everybody and his brother was. I took the back road and even that was crowded. Traffic jams in Marble Falls and Lampasas. Don't eat too much turkey and all that...
Have a good thanksgiving everyone! while the rockets may blow goat balls, let us not prevent it from getting in the way of some good turkey
