that's because i spelled it wrong in the thread title..sorry! Rosh Hashanah looking it over before pressing enter is your friend. embarassing...can i edit a thread title??
yeah, i didn't even make it 2 words. what the hell was i doing?? can we scrap the thread and start over??
Reminds me of the old Comedy Central happy holiday where Penn (from "Penn & Teller") would wish every one "Happy Chanukah!" (Of course, Penn enunciated it like someone who just read hooked on phonics.)
awesome. at least it's friday. i do want everyone to know that i KNEW it was two words, for God's sake!
is it true that rosh hashanah and sundry jewish holidays still get little play in h-town? they are on equal footing with christian holidays up here.
A 1 second google search for roshanah still would have given the information he was looking for. And it appears from the google search that sometimes people do spell it that way, which is not all that surprising- spellings can be different translating from Hebrew to English and sometimes people shorten names of things. so I think you're basically ok here, we can pretend you did it on purpose.
Fascinating. They get play where there happen to be a lot of Jews. I went to Bellaire, so I'm familiar with them.
In Max's defense, it isn't "wrong" since it's Hebrew anglicized. It's no different than the the odd and varied ways Chinese and Korean get rendered into English. The correct way is: ראש השנה
