Anyone see this yesterday. Billy Packer is a joke, how was this not a cheap shot? If I saw Packer walking by me i'd spit on him. Hes a joke. Then again you can ask why was Hansbrough on the floor? Yea..ok, but still classless move by Duke.

The upside is that Henderson was ejected and didn't go on to hit a shot to win the game that would be shown over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over every March.

    So there's that.

Still, not even that really, I wanna throw up hearing packer keep talking about how it wasnt a dirty shot. The ball was no where near Henderson for him to swipe at, so why he brings his forearm anywhere near Hansbroughs face is ludicrous. Its obvious it was a cheap shot, Packer is a dumbass for trying to be stubborn and justify that. Not to mention this guy has had a so many controversial ramblings in the past, how he is still on the air is a joke.

I didn't hear Packer, but I'm guessing I would agree with you completely.

I was referring to the Christian Laettner shot in the early 90s that sent Duke to the Final Four over UK. Earlier in the game, Laettner intentionally stomped on the chest of a UK player on the ground. He was given a technical, but not ejected. Now that shot is shown all the time and no one ever brings up the fact that he should've been ejected.

You know, I hate to say this but I agree with Packer. Stop looking at it in slow motion and look at it in real time. It's easy to say "well the ball was obviously nowhere close" but that's because you're not looking at it full speed.

But look at Hendersons demeanor while the refs talk it over and when he walks off. It just looks like he has this smirk on his face like ya, i did it, so what? Take into consideration that this is the biggest rivalry in college basketball, Duke is having a down year, UNC already beat them this year at Duke, Hansbrough is still in the game at this point, prob not nessecary. All the right reasons for a Duke player to be frustrated and to take a shot. I dont know, I feel it was a cheap shot for sure, regardless if i watch it in real time, no way Hendersons forearm should be near Hansbroughs face in that situation.

I hate Duke with a passion, but imo, he was going for the ball.

Are you talking about a Duke boy who stepped on a UK freshman in the first half of a nail biter and then hit a buzzer beater with 2.1 seconds left to destroy the hopes of millions of young Kentucky gym rats??

Never mind I should have read the rest of the thread.

Yes he stepped on Gimel Martinez. And shouldn't have even been allowed to play in the rest of the game.

The only good thing about Duke is the UK in the middle of it.

I could care less about UNC or Duke from a fan standpoint. When I saw it this morning it looked pretty clean to me. As far as smirking about it, well, maybe he wasn't sad to see the guy bleeding, but that doesn't automatically make it intentional.

Now, the thing at Temple a couple of years ago when Chaney put in his "bruiser," and broke the guy's arm...now THAT was terrible. Neither the player nor the coach should ever been allowed near NCAA basketball again.

He might have been going for the ball, but it seemed like he threw the elbow on purpose as well. It looks like Henderson saw the ball come out of Hansbrough's hands and came down w/ the elbow.

I don't hate/like Duke or N.C. but that looked like a very dirty play IMO.

the first couple of times I saw it , I thought it was strictly the motion of his arm coming down. But the more I watch it, it looks like he swings his arm down forcefully.

Rumor is that the NCAA has deemed that he isn't eligible to play in the next game either. Who knows what sort of punishment Duke will inforce on him as well.

Very difficult to interpret intent. I would say he either intended it, intended for a hard foul, or that he went for block with extreme recklessness.

It was a total cheap shot. Henderson was just pissed that NC was stomping them and Hansbrough got the rebound late and was adding to the lead.

Hearing Packer be a Duke appologist...i wondered if he was channeling Duke Vitale.

That cheap shot looked more like Mortal Kombat...."finish him!"

Its not really a rumor, he is suspended for the next game. He was ejected, thus automatically being suspended a game. I dont see Duke enforcing any type of punishment...i'm sure coach k, like any coach would is going to stand behind his player and say it wasnt intentional.

From the ESPN Pat Forde article I read, Coach K is behind his player.

There is an automatic 1 game suspension for Henderson because he was ejected for the act. It's possible the ACC could add more games, but I don't see Duke adding any internally.

It was clearly a cheap shot. I don't think it's as blatent as Kobe on Ginobli since I doubt Henderson intended to hit him in the face but I think it's obvious with his body movement and the force behind that elbow/forearm that he intended to hit somebody somewhere.
