Denver (Ticker) — Mike Hampton remained undefeated at Coors Field and took advantage of his home park with a pair of home runs to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 9-4 victory over his former team, the Houston Astros. Hampton (8-2) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and nine hits to improve to 4-0 in five starts at home this season. The lefthander, who went 69-40 from 1994-99 with Houston, walked three and struck out four. He made just one start against the Astros last season when he was with the New York Mets and did not receive a decision. The 5-10 Hampton entered the season homerless in 372 career at-bats, but now has four this season. The Rockies trailed, 2-1, when Hampton hit Wade Miller’s 1-1 pitch over the right-center field fence with two outs in the fifth inning. He capped Colorado’s six-run sixth inning with a two-run shot to make it 8-4. Miller (7-3), pitching in Colorado for the first time, set season highs by allowing eight runs and nine hits in six innings. Copyright SportsTicker 2001. ------------------
First Tim Bogar beats us with his first hit of the season, and now Hampton beats us by pitching and unloading two taters against us... Of course, the Hampton thing doesn't bother me as much, because he is a better hitter than Bogar anyway. ------------------ What is daylight savings time?
