Ex-President Bill Clinton has been refused the right to argue a case before the US Supreme Court because of his lying under oath. I really expected this sanction for a different reason: because he had sex with an intern. Isn't that why he was impeached?!
It should be... Bill Clinton's hammer falls in intern Too bad for that tree huggin' nut job. Damn, and I needed a good attorney
She is a really pathetic syndicated columnist--a bit too far to the right... most Republicans I know find her really embarrassing. She's about 30 or so, writes with no real understanding of the topic at hand, and resorts to petty name-calling when she can't make a point. She also punctuates her writing with really trite one-word comments (things like "Gag!" etc) because no one ever taught her how to write sarcastically-- and actually convey sarcasm-- without being so heavy-handed. Needless to say, she has it out for the Clintons-- as if there really isn't something constructive to be doing with her time... Just do a Google search under her name-- she's got plenty of articles/web pages out there...
It's true, he only got a blow job. President Clinton will fight this, and he will win. God I hate the far right- the supreme court can go to hell!
It's true, he lied under oath. Look, I don't think Clinton should have been impeached, and I don't think he should have been asked about his sex life in the trial. But he was asked, and he lied. He perjured himself under oath. I just don't see how he can expect to be allowed to argue before the Supreme Court (yeah I know, never gonna happen, all symbolism) when he perjured himself ina federal court. I hope he does not win because I think it will send a very bad signal about those in power and what they can get away with in our country's highest court. I also think he should have been permanently disbarred in AR, not just for 5 years. I suspect, although I do not know, that had any other lawyer perjured himself in court he would not have just received a 5 year suspension. The abuse of power really galls me. And I don't think Clinton is any worse than any other politician so save you accusations of being a crazy conservative who just hates Clinton.
dylan, Actually, most people wouldn't have even been tried if they had done what Clinton had done. I worked for a fairly conservative law firm at the time, and not even the farthest to the right of the group (out of about 40 attorneys) would have pursued purjury charges if it had happened to them. Take that for what you will.
I didn't know that he was convicted of perjury. Do you have a reputable link saying that was the outcome? This is the Senate decision that I am inquiring about. Mango
ZRB: "It's true, he only got a blow job." RR: Isn't that called Oral SEX by some people in some quarters at some times .... or IS it a virtual equivalency? Maybe it depends on what the meaning of is is?! Puedlfor: "And yes, he was impeached for having sex with an intern." RR: Can you show us that in the official impeachment charges? RM95: "Actually, most people wouldn't have even been tried if they had done what Clinton had done." RR: And MOST PEOPLE aren't the chief legal officer of the nation. Should that not count for something? If it wasn't such a big deal, why wouldn't he just glibly or stoicly (take your pick) admit to it? Since there was quite a bit of evidence (circumstancial and physical) that it was going on, why not just proudly own up to it? But he didn't. What's wrong with that picture?
No, it shouldn't matter if he was the president or not. The president is not above the law...nor is he below it.
