This guy just caught my attention since he led Iran to a 72-70 victory over Serbia. He's 7'2", 23 years old...and dominating everything that comes his way. He had 20 points and 9 rebounds in a 10 point loss to Argentina last week and 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 6 blocks against Serbia. http://www.nanjing2008.fiba.com/pag.../43920/roundid/6361/fe_teamPlay_playStat.html Supposedly he went undrafted in the NBA at 19 but has his eyes set on playing in the league. Anybody else have info on him?
My parents are Iranian and I really love to hear about Iran's basketball players so I did a little research and I found this. His name is actually Hamed E. Hadadi The E is his middle name. http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=26973§ionid=3510211
is it something that all middle easterns do when they dunk? They seem to all raise their legs up. I'm talking about you Rony Seikaly.
He's a good prospect for sure for the Euroleague level, but theres politics and everything that prevents him from going to euroleague or nba.
Bull****, nothing but skills prevens him from going to euroleague or nba. Do you think the iranian team would be able to make that little trip to Utah if it wasn't accepted by the government?
Heard it from the play by play guys during the Iran Serbian game... don't look at me. Personally if he can score 20/20 against the serbian national team then he should be good enough to get a healthy contract from euroleague.
Oh, my bad then, they were wrong though. This kid may have a bright future if he plays good at the Olympics, already a couple of years ago Partizan from Serbia was interested in him but he turned them down, bad move but we can only hope he makes it some big league.
Chad Ford makes a mention of Hadadi in one of his blogs, but no word on Iranian restrictions of coming to America... A few NBA scouts are interested in Iranian big man Hamed Hadadi ... but he's already 23 and no longer eligible for the draft. Hadadi, who stands 7-foot-2, has had a few impressive games this summer. NBA teams can sign him as a free agent.
According to one of the threads made in the NBA dish about Josh Smith signing with Memphis, Hadadi is expected to be signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.
That makes us look like we jumped higher than we really did. On a side note as an Iranian myself I always wondered when someone with my country would make it to the NBA. Or even just an Iranian-American since there are so many of us these days. If he does sign cue up all the outside the lines and espn articles that will be written.
Just wondering, what makes Perkins so much more NBA worthy than this guy? What particular area of Basketball does Perkins excel at? Besides the fact he's 7 feet and about 265 lbs?
If an Iranian basketball player ever plays in a NBA City with a large Iranian population like Las Angeles or Houston, it'll be HUGE... I'll be rooting for him and Iran during the Olympics. I hope they give us a good showing.
He's got soft hands. good touch around the basket. he got 20-20 on the serbian frontline with the likes of Darko and krstic. he can p[lay. he'll be a handy backup center in this league. rummor is memphis are close to signing him.
played quite well in the game with russia. Shows some nice low post moves during the game, shot badly at the FT line, 9 points and 8 rebounds. http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/INF/BK/C73/BKM400A01.shtml#BKM400A01 But he looks soft to me, and he always trail plays during transition plays.
Your type of humour does not amuse me. Anyways back onto topic I'm watching him play Lithuania right now and he is definately a prospect.. maybe even for the NBA? Every time he gets a look at the basket he gets it. He's definately interesting to watch.. good at collecting rebounds but lacks a bit of upper body strength.
