My roommate and I are trying to cook some home-made hamburgers, but since our apartment is near a gas container, so we are not allowed to have a BBQ grill. So is it possible to cook hamburgers(beef patties) by oven? And is there some tricks to make it have the grill-cooked flavor?

While not perfect, an indoor/outdoor electric grill... (Delonghi makes one) might do the trick. You'd get the grill marks, and depending on the seasoning and marinades you use, you can still make a nice burger.

george foreman is on the phone for you.

you'd be better off frying them in a pan, although you can broil them in the oven and that's not bad. you can also get 'liquid smoke' which puts a hickory or mesquite flavor in the meat.

    Funny!

Anyway, yeah, your over should have a "broil" setting. Crack the oven door open a little bit and broil 'em. Hell, flame broiling beats frying, right?
