Yes, the sh*t is about to hit the fan again. Hamas is going to start suicide attacks and "terror" operations again. Apparently, an Israeli artillery shell went awry and hit a beach full of Palestinians killing 10 civilians setting off this furor. So, I guess we can expect some high casualty rates again on both sides. They might as well just have one final battle and end this crap once and for all. It's really getting old. Hamas wants to destroy Israel and won't come to the peace table. So, they have chosen war and terror again. And, we're supposed to give money to this government and listen to them b**** if we don't? Yet, they have chosen their own path. Israel will set its own borders and continue to blow up Palestinians. The tit-for-tat revenge cycle is coming back into full swing. This idea that Israel is going to be destroyed and they will reclaim Palestine is asinine. As long as they trump that cause, their plight will never end happily.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAZA (Reuters) - The militant group Hamas, which has largely abided by a truce for more than a year, said on Friday it was renewing attacks on Israel following Israeli strikes that were reported to have killed 10 Palestinian civilians.

"The Israeli massacres represent a direct opening battle and that means the earthquake in the Zionist cities will resume and the herds of occupiers have no choice but to prepare coffins or departing luggage," Hamas's armed wing said in a statement.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed the militant group, which won a parliamentary election in January and now heads the Palestinian government, would renew its attacks.

"We have reiterated always our commitment to the choice of jihad and resistance," Abu Zuhri said. "I believe that amid the continued bloodshed of our people and the horrific images of massacres, there is no place for silence."

There was no immediate comment from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Hamas statement came after Israel killed three Palestinians in an air strike against their car and after artillery shelling on a Gaza beach, which Palestinian sources said Israel had initiated, killed seven people.

Israel said it had on Friday launched several air strikes and artillery shells against militants who fired rockets into the Jewish state. The violence marked the largest number of Palestinians killed by Israel since December 2004.

Friday's bloodshed came hours after an Israeli air strike killed a security commander who headed the Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of militants who masterminded most of the rocket attacks during the past two years.

Prime Minister and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh had said in response to the missile strike that Palestinians had the right to defend themselves.

So is this an official declaration of war? Hamas is in control of the Palestinian government so wouldn't that technically make this a real war between two governments?

My vision is becoming clear, I see it now one, two, three and four, no wait, five armies all converging for battle on the Plains of Meggiddo. Oh crap, nevermind, I'm just having a flashback from childhood when I watched The Hobbit movie.

Well, I guess the Hamas statement can be interpreted as a declaration of war since they are the government now. The Israeli position is still one of acting to protect their own people from attacks. The whole time Hamas has been in this so-called truce...they have let other terror groups do what they want. Then, when Israel reacts to these attacks(primarily, rocket attacks), it's Israel doing the massacres and Palestinians having a legitimate cause to launch rockets. It's r****ded logic at its finest.

I am by no means defending Hamas, but what exactly did they do to deserve having one of their government members murdered?

gawd... i wonder why the people don't realize they have a good thing going? you'd figure there's got to be a rational person in the hamas government. they've worked so hard to get their own land back and now they're going to throw it away. i was for the palestinians and their plight and happy they have a place to call home, but if they start the sucide bombs again, i'm incline to side with isreal. it was an accident. the isreali (best army in the world pound per pound, bar none) can also easily take back their land. hamas has gotta check their testosterone at the door and think about the future and welfare of the people who elected them into office.

The world should cut off all aid to both Israel and Palastine and let them kill each other as much as they like.

What's is sort of sad and funny at the same time is they are fighting over a piece of real estate that is the same size roughly as Vancouver Island. So little land, yet so much bloodshed.

Sometimes I wonder if we should. It isn't like anything is ever going to change. The definition of insanity is continue doing the same thing while expecting different results. Nothing ever changes with either of these fools and they both expect the other to give in.

People have been fighting over that land for centuries, it goes all the way back to the crusades, and what is the common thread? Religion !

Everyone has a religious claim to the land, someone should just bulldoze all thos places to the ground......

This makes me think back to two US blunders when we invaded Afghanistan:

1.) Dropping food kits that looked similar to cluster bombs, i.e. same color and similar size.

2.) Dropping food kits with food that Muslims are not allowed to eat.

Your referring to the guy who boasted along the lines of "Israel cannot hunt me down...I hunt them" only to be struck down less than two days later? Basically, this guy:

Abu Samhadana was one of the most wanted of all Palestinian militants. Israel said he had been responsible for dozens of deaths, including the 2003 bombing of a diplomatic convoy in Gaza that left three Americans dead.

Hamas is trying to legitimize militants as government employees. I don't think Israel is buying into that logic.

If that's true then it's pretty funny.

    okay I guess

But the truce was holding (had been for a year) Hamas was making strides in forming a legitimate government. Seems like Israel kind of brought anythng that happens now on themselves.

Either way, this is all so messed up.
