Does a college network count as a LAN?

We are trying to play two xboxes together for Halo.

I'm thinking we just use standard ethernet cable to hook up the boxes to the college network that we use for the internet. Since we are on the same network, does it count as a LAN?

    Will this work computer people?

To all intents and purposes, your college network is a LAN (actually a collection of LANs). I don't know anything about X-Box or Halo though, so I don't know how they work over a network. You might need to be on the same subnet (which is quite likely if the physical location of the two ethernet connections are close together).

Your best bet is just to give it a go and see what happens.

Halo is the best game ever!
I don't think you can do it unless you both meet on a dedicated server like Xbox live. The Xbox doesn't have the software to connect person to person over the net. (I think)

Cool. It always seems that the best thing to do is just have a go, and see what happens!
