Playing Halo a few years ago was the most fun I've had playing video games in years. I've eagerly anticipated the new release. A friend of mine in Boston called to say he had the game. I'm like, "What the ...?" I just saw that this was posted in one of the gaming threads earlier and I missed it, but for those that don't know, the french version of Halo 2 leaked out on to the Internet, some 3 weeks before the game is to be available in stores. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=internetNews&storyID=6516536 After the Astros game I went over there to check it out. With the Red Sox on, I went through just one chapter of the game, but I got to say this game is sick. If you love Halo, you will go nuts over this one. Everything about the original is improved, the storyline seems even better, it has much more of a military/war type feel, the graphics are better and there are a lot of new elements... and again, I just saw one chapter. I'll definitely buy this game on Day 1.
Before I click the link: My buddy just built a new home up in Dallas. It has a huge theater room with 100" projection TV. There are ethernet connections throughout the house, with big TVs everywhere. Soon after H2 comes out, we have at least 8 of us and four X-Boxes and four H2s driving up there for a weekend of non-stop gaming. Eat, sleep, play Halo2. We'll have X-Box Live subscriptions too. I'm not bragging (well I am a bit), but I'd like to invite anyone (I'll ask my friend, but I'm sure the more the better) to join us. If H2's multiplayer is like H1, then I know we can get 16 people, which we've done on H1 before. It's even better if you can provide your own X-Box and H2 copy because if H2 allows, we could even have bigger games, instead of the 4 x box max.
I am super pumped about Halo2, good to hear ya like it Clutch--I've been addicted since I played it the first time and have been blowing it up for the last year and a half. Need to come down with the Flu or a bad case of 'roids on 11/09/2004
Well I didn't notice a difference there, but I wasn't paying enough attention to that I guess. I did notice that after you kill them sometimes, they lay dead and twitch once or twice later... which at first made me think I needed to unload another clip on them. When I first heard it was the French version, I thought they would hand the Master Chief a gun, say go fight, he runs away and the end credits roll.
Let me know dude, I'm in Dallas quite often and LOVE a good full-on multi-player match! My email is in profiles
Kinda like when someone gets banned, but uses a spouse's or a friend's or a duplicate account to get another comment in, huh?
I don't have an X-Box, so I'll have to wait for friends to get it, but I'm just majorly pumped up for the soundtrack, big ol' 22 minute unreleased Incubus song on it. Heard three minutes of it so far, very metal, some people said it was Dream Theater-esque, but I don't really know them, so I'll have to take their word for it, regardless, I can't wait!
I am in the process of completing all of my homework for the week of Nov 9th. I have a test Wednesday but on Thursday, it is on - none stop Halo 2 thru the weekend. I heard Legendary is a whole new ballgame for co-op, when one person dies, both players go back to the last checkpoint. Awesome - Legendary was way too easy on co-op.
All these big games are getting leaked like crazy. Halo 2, Doom 3, HL2, and GTA:SA have all been leaked and played prior to the actual release. I'm not sure if it will really affect the sales that much considering how big these games are, but it does suck for the developers. I think the last I saw, Halo 2 supposedly had like 1.5 million preorders in the US alone already, so they seem to already on the track to making a good profit. I'm guessing that those who downloaded it will most likely buy it at one time or another (especially with the leaked one being French) and others who downloaded it may not have bought it anyways. Plus, maybe, just maybe, this could be somewhat good publicity. If I was wondering whether or not to preorder Halo 2 and I read Clutch's comments on it, I'd preorder it for sure. Speaking of which, I'm wondering whether or not I'll play Halo 2 when it comes out. I don't have an Xbox, so I won't buy/rent/steal it, but I may play it at a friend's house. I'm a little curious on how it all shaped out. Personally, I liked Halo a litte bit but did think it was overrated a bit. (that's probably why some of my posts seem a little pro-Halo and some seem anti-Halo, although I'm probably more anti since I don't like Microsoft that much.) I would much prefer a PC FPS like Half-Life or something, but Halo 1-2 is pretty nice for a FPS on a console. I'd also like to play the "Halo" killer called Killzone later on to see how it would compare to Halo 1-2 and PC FPS's. I'm also curious to see how much this game impacts sales of Xbox's as wells as the sales of other consoles and games. GTA:SA, Halo 2, and Half-Life 2 are all being released pretty close to each other and I wonder if one of them will have to suffer or whatever. If nothing else, maybe I'll get to see some type of updated Red VS Blue.
I have heard time and time again about how great "Halo" is from people on this board, family, friends, and strangers. I still have not even played the first one though and 2 is about to come out. I guess I better go rent the first one before giving the second one a shot or should I just wait for the second?
You might as well rent the first one. You can do it now and it'll just cost a couple of bucks. Then you can find out whether you even like the series or not.
I would rent it to get used to the controls. They are pretty standard, but it never hurts to have a leg up.
Halo 2 is already the best game ever. I've been eagerly waiting for this game for months and months. I can barely wait much longer. I'll purchase the game, but it will own ME. Really, it will be the most amazing FPS ever.
