Here we go again, Halloween enthusiasts! Post your 2011 Jack-O-Lanterns, as it is customary and my traditional thread since about 5 years ago (you might remember my [thread=194972]2010 thread[/thread]), I've already gotten started. Here is what I carved out during lunch today: Spoiler Start out with a beautiful pumpkin. (good-looking ones might be gone... but you still might have a chance at your local grocer!) Spoiler Cut out the top, leave a lip, carve out the inside... discard the pulp or save it... along with the seeds Spoiler Tape your pattern. Remember that the pumpkin is spherical and your pattern is flat. Cut some angles so that the pattern lays flat on the sphere. Spoiler Use a "poker" (that's what SHE said) to mark the angles on the pattern. Spoiler Use a pounce/wheel to score along the longer lines of your pattern. It's OK to make a straight line where there isn't one because of the spherical shape. Spoiler When you're done transferring the pattern, begin revealing the transferred pattern... you should be able to make it out. Spoiler Use the smaller, finer saw to cut the angles. Be precise with the longer cuts, have care not to "overcut." Spoiler Take out the smaller pieces first, so the bigger pieces are easier to cut. Push OUT from inside the pumpkin. Spoiler If you have "carved" pieces, use a scraper to remove the surface skin. Spoiler Finish your Jack-O-Lantern by smoothing out the edges, clean "dirty edges" with a soft cloth. Voilá! What are you planning to carve out on your own pumpkins to make Jack-O-Lanterns? LOL @ the automatic TAGs
These are mine from this year: I carved this one tonight and I carved this one about a week and a half ago
[don't know if serious img goes here] Anyway, here are the Transformers and Jack Skellington ones I made last night. The Transformers one is the first one I ever make with DUAL-TONE colors (cut out and "scrape" techniques)... how did I do? Spoiler Spoiler
