Here you go Mr. Basso, you genius you. I'm waiting for you to sacrifice yourself before your God, Mr. Dick Cheney, stating, "I will die for you, O Lord! Please screw me over as much as you can, I will still support You!"

Oh, and based on a previous threads posts regarding Iran and the Taliban, I believe this means that we should take military action against Halliburton.

That's the deal alright. But they get the no-bid contract to carry out that war.

Um, none of those links say anything about Haliburton supplying arms to Iran. Of course, that comes as no surprise as Haliburton is not an arms manufacturer. You would have had more luck saying Haliburton provides financial support for terror.

Yeah, I guess I reached the breaking point "lurking" here off and on. The stupidity is constantly reaching new heights it seems.

There's no link to terror or arms. Halliburton is helping Iran develop natural gas? And it's a foreign subsidary as well.

Geez, I don't care if we help Iran develop it's energy. Anything we can do to help industrialize that country and raise the standard of living there is super smart. Because if Iranians are happy, they'll less likely to want their gov't to do stupid things like send arms to the Taliban.

Indeed - actually the thread title was in jest, following the theme of another thread here regarding arms and Iran. Of course, it obviously didn't work out so well, from misspellings to missed effect.

Or maybe you're just a regular poster using another id you created a long time ago but never used.

Anyway, this was a terrible post. You claim nuclear and military ties and yet don't provide any evidence. You just lost all credibility.

Uhh, hey genius, did you bother reading the 3rd link? It's ILLEGAL to do business with Iran, so good old Halliburton actually set up a company in the Cayman Islands for it. If this isn't astounding enough, well, never mind, you're already taking the utterly absurd, unthinkable viewpoint of actually defending these moves, so I'll say no more.

Credibility? You actually used that word, when, in the the thread below you're authorizing military action against Iran?? How much of a complete joke are you? So, the facts: Halliburton is helping Iran increase its revenue. Iran is also using money to finance terror. Hmmm, and Halliburton thus helping finance a country that supports terror is OK with you....hehe, and you knew how to spell "credibility".

You're right...when I see "selling arms to iran" I kind of figured it was about...well..selling arms to iran. I didn't catch the nuance that it was really a satirical jab at another poster while at the same time being about doing business in iran, which, if we'd read the third link, should have been perfectly clear.

Welcome aboard. But we have enough trouble communicating here without masking the point of your thread. And...while I'm sure basso and newyorker may be flattered that you consider them geniuses, I'm suspicious you might be jesting again...

OK, I'll spell it out nice and slow for you one last time, since you didn't bother reading my above post to another person - THE THREAD TITLE WAS IN JEST. Sarcasm, directed at the other Iran thread.

So get off the idiotic "Yeah but the thread title doesn't match the utterly despicable actions of Halliburton, so it's ok what they're doing" thinking, and actually look at the information itself, and judge the facts, not some idiotic thread title that bears no influence on actual fact.

    To the bank:

    Small proportion

"Halliburton's Iran dealings constitute only a tiny fraction of its overall finances - about 0.5% of its $16.3bn 2003 turnover, according to the most recent annual report."

The only thing I'm confused about is why anybody (lurker or otherwise) ever bothers to respond to NewYorker.

Long story short: Halliburton is doing business illegally with Iran, including selling components that could be used in nuclear weapons (detonator swtiches).

It's all funneled through Dubai. A great explanation can be found here.

Halliburton gets the attention due to its rather notorious contracts in Iraq, but they are hardly the only company involved. I posted a link to this story back in this thread some time ago. Strange how its not getting more media attention.
