My favorite quote from Bill Walton was the one about race, ethnicity and prejudice being what you left behind in baggage before stepping on to the court. Can't find the exact words if somebody could help but it set the tone for me at the kind of guy Bill was. RIP

Some of his great one liners during games

    Horrible
    Thats not a foul
    Throw it down big man

Bill was destined to be an all time great but his body failed him ala Yao and Greg Oden from the center position. Bill was healthy really 2 seasons in his career and his team won the championship both times. He basically left the Blazers because in 1978 so he would play the team docs convinced him to take a cortisone shot in his foot he went up for a rebound and his foot snapped. He sued the doc and won a $1m suit and ended up on the Clippers for a few years while they were still in San Diego. That was his hometown and because of his foot issues he wasn't allowed to play back to back games and the Clippers never really won and he blamed himself for them moving to LA.

    RIP, very sad, great individual.

Type of cancer is rumored to either be prostate or colon. Get your checkups and screenings done, fellas.

I loved Bill Walton as a commentator. It was when I realized that he was about making basketball fun, that I really started to appreciate him. I think its easy to take this game a little too seriously. Think of all the war references by coaches and players. You are playing a game not going to war. . . . . . come on. Bill Walton spit in the face of that and just had fun watching and commentating on basketball. He really was great.
