I have some books to sell
and I was wondering if this
is where I can get the best
    price

Most of the time they kind take
500$ worth of books and wanna
give ya 5$ [I know that is how they
    stay in bid'ness]

But I wanna know if anyone knows
    of another book store/place that
    would be better

You'd probably be better off selling them at a garage sale, or donating them to a library then writing it off.

I agree with all of the above. Unless you just wanna really get rid of the books, Half-Price won't give you poop! Even less for CDs.

The library would be my suggestion unless they are REALLY nice hardbacks. My wife and I got about $25 once for about 10 really nice hard back books - coffee table stuff. I found one of them on the shelf a week later with $48 on it!!!

If you are patient, you can usually get good prices on Ebay if they are current books or in demand.

Also, if you want to donate, consider the Houston Read Commission. They give books to people who can't afford them.

    And then, depression set in...

I'm not looking to make a mint
    just something. . . I usually go
with Half Price then buy somebook
out of their store with that same money

Just wanted to know if another place
    had the same deal

anyplace give more in trade than in money?

There's a place called, I think, The Book Exchange. It's similar to half price books, but you can swap two paperbacks for one. Otherwise, I don't know much about it.

I took about 8 novels that I had to read for English to Half-Price in Sugar Land. The guy offered me, believe it or not, $3.00!
That comes out to around 37 cents per book. I'm sorry but I paid like $20-$30 for each book. I wasn't trying to get rich, but please...excuse me, I had to start laughing when the guy said that. At first my reaction was, per book? That was kind of low but I might have been willing to part with them, but when the dude said total I just walked out. My college bookstore offers $10-$15 for these novels. Maybe no one in Sugar Land has a need for them.

You might want to check into the local college bookstores to see if your books are used.

Go to www.half.com and sell them online.

It is a great place to find "experienced" books and DVDs.

they used to be not so stingy. i once brought a box of used software and got $25 from the Montrose location but this was 4-5 years ago. now they'd probably give me $4 for the whole box.

also they used to give out coupons to sellers for 15% off a future purchase but i don't think they do that anymore unfortunately.
