This reminds me, I wonder how high Vince Carter is still on Hakeem after seeing this? Too late now Vince, no turning back after the dotted line has been signed! Good luck with the contract!

You Hakeem Haters are basing what you see after 1 preseason game? hakeem has never started fast, ever. even in his prime he was a slow starter. Tor,Milw, and Orl will be the east rep this year

    Haters? Please....

Noone's hating. This is just old news....no surprise. No big deal....Hakeem has been trying to catch his wind for three years, and I'd bet he will be chasing that wind the day he retires.

Let's see, one preseason game, in early October, and all of a sudden, Hakeem is worse than ever. Right. Here I f**king am, and I still support Hakeem the Dream. I used to think that calling Houston fans "fair weather" was ridiculous, not anymore.

And before you come back by saying "you said you wouldn't be a fan if they missed the playoffs", realize that what I said was bull****. Yes, I would leave the board, but I most certainly would not stop being a fan. I am not fairweather. I appreciate all the Rockets, no matter what they do. Especially the King Rocket, Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon. He is the greatest player to ever put on a Houston uniform. It seems to me that the simple fact that he hand delivered two titles to Houston should override anything he did this summer. But no, it's "what have you done for me lately" with you guys, isn't it.

    I agree with ZRB.

Every Houston fan that knows ANYTHING about Hakeem KNOWS that Hakeem always says that he gets better game by game. Yes, I know Vince is ecstatic. Why? Cause that means Hakeem will be peaking at the end of the season come playoff time (remember last season?).

I don't know HOW you can bash Hakeem. He didn't do anything wrong. He was offered more money, more touches, a shot at a conference/league title, and last but not least respect.

I love Steve and everything, but towards the end of the negotiations, the phone call came from Vince, not Francis.

So I guess after every Raptors game, we're going to end up seeing a Hakeem thread with boxscore?

    Great...

and everytime Shandon scores 15+ pts, we are going to get his boxscore with a "see, he can score!" And from last year's stats, that means 1 every 4 games....*sigh*

I find myself in unfamiliar territory, but I completely agree with ZRB. Regardless of where Hakeem plays, he will always be one of my favorite players. That doesn't mean I will root for the Raptors, but I do wish the Dream well.

    No...just every other game!:D

Seriously, why am I not surprised by this? Yea, CD looks real dumb in giving a 38 year-old (if he's really 38) a 3 or 4 year deal or whatever he wanted for 12 million!

No, because Shandon admitted that he didn't fit in and he never made the comments like Olajujawuan did about wanting to come back. Personally, I hope he does well. He might be the only Knick I like.

Strange you would call the fans that have let Hakeem play 60 % of the games for the last 4 years and dog on part of those, while never saying a thing. Let him complain because he did not like the way he was used, demand a trade to someone that would treat him better and the entire time the fans stood by him. WHY, because he has delivered two championships to the Rockets and he was going to retire when this contract was up. Sure we will wait to rebuild, sure we will overlook everything because we owe you and it will end when the retirement gets here. What?? you don't want to retire, but you can't play yourself in shape anymore and we need the salary room for a younger player as we want to get back to the playoffs. What?? you don't care and you get no respect unless we put rebuilding off for another 4 years. I think the fans stood by him for long enough and he did not hold up his end of the bargin. Now the league will know what the Rockets fans have known for 4 years and his great cloud will take a shot, but it was all done because of him and his agent, NOT THE FANS!!

It's just the same old crap, except now, no one wants to wait around for him. He should have stayed in shape this offseason, but instead was off on a holy journey or something.

If he would stay in sustained shape he might have stability, however, if he keeps falling out of shape, and then relying on getting back into shape into the season, he's going to keep getting worse and worse, as he has been doing consistently since our last championship. I'll bet anyone on this board $5000 he gets injured in the next thirty days.
