They have a pretty good piece on Hakeem this morning, and it doesn't even imply that he is a "second tier" center when rated amongst the greats. I thought it was very well done. If you wanna see all the best Hakeem highlights packed into a couple minutes, I definitely recommend you watch it. The way he could block shots was SICK. Seems like they showed about fifty of his swats.

I still can't believe that he is leaving the NBA.

He kind of stumbles out of his career by ending it w/ the Toronto Craptors....but a legend always in the hearts of Rockets fans :)

I'm going to catch it once I get off of work....have to see this...

The SC piece was nice. Him throwing KJ from behind and KJ stumpling like WTF!?! was great. Him skying over Mason in the Finals was cool as well. Too bad they had to through in a little hate w/ the Hakeem never faced MJ and he played in a small media market crap. None of that was Hakeem's fault. And there is no argument, the 2 seasons MJ was away, the Dream was w/o a doubt the best basketball player on the planet averaging 27 & 12!

I must admit, I kinda turned on the Dream just a little bit after he left to go to Toronto but those highlights brought back such great memories and I truly sadened to see the Dream leave :(

what impeccable timing! I open this thread, than turn on SC hoping to catch the piece, and what do I see? The SC anchor just starting the intro to Stuart Scott's Olajuwon tribute!

great piece! man i miss those days. i got all nostalgic watching hakeem put guys in the blender and mixing them up. :(

I will definitely miss the big guy. He is the reason I started watching the NBA and to think he is leaving. All the memories and all the dreams. I don't want to be like mike I want to be like Hakeem. I was lucky enough to catch him dominating in his prime and to see him leave will brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for everything Hakeem................thanks :(

I don't think they were ripping Dream at all. They just said at the point where Dream was the best player he never got the chance to play MJ, meaning the Bulls and Rockets never went at it. And the small market thing was actually a sign of respect. They virtually said Hakeem didn't get the respect he deserves because he played in a smaller market, we've been saying tha for years. That's the point during that tribute, Hakeem never playing Jordan in the Finals wasn't his fault, and Hakeem not being mentioned regularly among the greats was because he didn't play in a big market and get the respect he deserves.

hakeem should have been waived, then signed by us for a 10 day contract so he could retire playing for us on opening night.
