Hakeem has the greatest fockass evarr I wonder if he and the other bigs in his era would fare well in today's NBA. I'd much rather watch the era of the bigs than this one made for midgets
Man thanks for the memories.... That Louisville vs. Houston game was probably one of the best I have ever seen... The Doctors of Dunk vs. Phi Slamma Jamma... Man what a GAME!!!!!
Outside of the games that clinched the Rockets' rings, that game is probably my favorite basketball game of all time. It was a battle of air walkers. They may as well have played the game in space because gravity ceased to exist on the court. What a game. Benny Anders, Michael Young, Hakeem, Drexler, Larry Micheaux, etc... wow.
I'm not gonna lie, that brought tears to my eyes. He made me a Rocket fan, he created clutch city, he brought Houston our first championship. Greatest ever.
That game lived up to every bit of the Hype that it was giving.... Dr. Dunkestien was the man back then... But that slam that Benny Anders had in the second half was just HUGE!!!!!!! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x447XA0do_Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x447XA0do_Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Sheesh you guys are old! Hakeem was already in the NBA when I was born in 1987. Still, in the 90's, it was that amazing man that made me become a Rockets fan (actually it was mostly the team name when I was like six, but Hakeem kept me loving them with his incredible abilities).
WOW - Those were the good ol' days ... I know a ton of people say they were there, but I have the stubs for Games 6 & 7. The crowd was crazy during the last minutes of Game 7 and will never forget the celebrations down Westheimer .... Don't think my voice came back for a couple of days Thanks for the link!!
I have been told that the Rockets nearly traded Ralph Sampson for Michael Jordan after the draft, but wouldn't pull the trigger for obvious reasons of Sampson's early greatness. I can understand why they didn't do this, but is this true?
Hakeem Olajuwon was never the same after he changeed his name from Akeem. But he real question: Does anyone know why his nickname is the Dream? And what is Yao Ming's nickname anyway? I think we should call him "The Great Wall of China" since he is from China and he is big, like the Great Wall which is in China. Or we could call him Taipei 101. That would be because he is tall and oriental. One of those two should work.
I have this on VHS and in DVD! amazing vid! Every rocket fan should watch this, and learn about the best rockets player of all-time.
