Today, during the Lakers and Nuggets game, the announcer stated that Hakeem was the best foreign player to ever be in the NBA. Thought I would share the appreciation with y'all Clutch Fans :)

I'm curious, who were those named with 34 when talking about the all time foreign centers?

He first said Gasol was the best. However, after careful consideration, he blurted out that Hakeem was the best. Gasol second. In the mix was Manu, Steve Nash, etc. I kind of think Mutombo would be above Gasol but w/e

Actually, it wasn't much of a debate, he said Gasol first and then QUICKLY changed his answer to "Dream". They even tried to have him change his answer back to Gasol and Kerr basically laughed them off and insisted on "Dream".

    best flavor there is

Mutombo and Gasol play differently. Same thing with Steven Nash and Gasol. It is hard to say which one is actually better when they both play their role extremely well. Mutombo having an all-time block record has to account for something but it also makes more sense that Hakeem is still the best because Hakeem is #1 in blocked shots.

Tim Duncan was born in the US right? Virgin Islands or some crap?

Yup. Christiansted. So he was born in the U.S. and was a citizen upon birth.

Not much of a debate. The only other player who could be brought into the argument would be Nash but his lack of playoff success hurts him.

BTW Ewing was born in Jamaica, so he should be in the discussion. He was better than Gasol.

For guys who never played NCAA ball, it's so weird to me that Dirk Nowitzki is not in these discussions vs Gasol. The guy is scoring 23.7 ppg right now at a blistering 56%. He is All-NBA 10 years running. 1st or 2nd team 8 of those years.

    yet, he is just forgotten.

GREAT catch, Dirk has won an MVP...Gasol??? I like Gasol, the guy is a greasy bum but dam can he play. Kerr brought it up spur of the moment, given a night of research, I am sure he can come up with a few more obivous omissions to the list like Dirk and Ewing.
