Was going to wait until the summer until I posted this, but whatever.... If you could add either Hakeem or Clyde (in their primes) to this current team but by losing one of our two beloved current superstars. Which team would be closer to winning a title? Either add Clyde to the current team and lose Tmac or add Dream and lose Yao or Current team Please discuss.
Add Dream and Clyde instead of Yao and T-Mac, keep Artest and the bench brigade, and we're favorites to win it all no doubt.
To answer you question though swap Yao and T-Mac w/ Dream and I think we can still win it all, Rafer, Artest, Battier, Scola, Dream is a solid lineup at worse.
Put Dream on this team, and they win....he was a leader, a rebounder, a defender, and gave the team an identity. Dream on this team = multiple championships.... DD
If you just think who is the most impactful players in their prime and healthy, you wuld have to go Dream,Clyde,Tracy, then Yao. Why? Dream took avg players to the finals and won. Clyde to pretty good player to the finals and lost but hooked up with dream and won a ring. Tracy took avg players and went to the playoffs in orlando and when yao has went out. Yao hasn't did it yet. Just sayin.
Hakeem. Easy. Can you imagine the defense with Artest, Battier, and the Dream? It gives me goosebumps. Rafer Artest Battier Hayes Dream Best defensive lineup of all time?
Nothing to do with the question, but I would have liked to seen twin towers II with Yao at center and Hakeem at PF.
i'd give up Yao AND tracy for Dream. Can you imagine how much damage he'd cause now? There's no ewing, robinson, young shaq....No one would even be close to him at his position, even Howard would have trouble with him. Easily would average 30,15 and 4 blocks. Rafer Battier Landry Scola Dream Either Dream scores or he's double and triple teamed and you know he can find the open man, Scola and Landry are money within 5 feet, Battier can shoot open 3s all day...and rafer just needs to make entry passes to dream....then ron can come off the bench Brooks Wafer Barry Ron Dream At his prime, Dream can play 40 mins a game, let him get PT with the second unit also...Brooks/wafer/barry all 3 pt threats, ron does the dirty work, Dream dominates or passes.
I see very little similar in their games. Usually, when people make those "rich man version" comparisons, the two players have similar but unequal qualities. Hakeem was the greatest defensive center of all-time on top of being a great offensive player. Amare hasn't shown he can be a defensive force and he's not a great rebounder. Most of Amare's offense is just dunking. Yes, he has added a reliable mid-range game but it's not like he can shoot turnarounds and fadeaways with a man on his back. He has to be wide open. Hakeem was finesse + power. Amare has no post game. Hakeem was a magician in the post. Hakeem was a very good passer. Amare isn't. He hasn't even had a chance to develop that part of his game playing with Nash. Hakeem's basketball IQ was infinitely greater than Amare's. Amare is mostly just a good athlete. The only similarity I see between Hakeem and Amare beyond their relative athleticism for big men is that they were both frontcourt players in the NBA.
This question has some major flaws, because we're assuming we'll be getting the 94 hakeem, but not the 85 hakeem or the 2000hakeem. But if we also assume we're getting a 03 TMAC, then the question would be easy to answer....94 hakeem and 03 mtac is going to kick ass.
