I think the main problem with the Rockets has been Hakeem's refusal to accept a new brand of basketball. He wants to play the same old inside/out game that he is accostumed to playing. However, as we all know, it does not work with an aging center with eroding skills. A few years back, I think it was 93-94; Hakeem injured his knee and was out for 20 or so games. The Rockets during this time went on a franchise best 16 game winning streak. Hakeem watched and took notice, when he came back he blended in to the offense instead of demanded the ball. The Rockets ran the Pick and Roll with Kenny Smith and Otis Thorpe, they deversified. Hakeem found out that other players could play too. I think this is what is going to happen here. There will be only one player on the low block..Charles, and he is a WAY better passer then Dream, and this should open up the game for our young guys. I predict that Hakeem's injury is a BIG boost for this team. DaDakota
I agree. While I don't wish injury on the man, I have to say that he only has 1 more year left after this season. It's time for this organization to start learning how to win without him. With Olajuwon still being a focus in our offense, it's r****ding the growth of other younger players around him. The post shouldn't be ignored (as he's been saying so often recently), but it should be de-emphasized. If Francis keeps dumping it into the post, his decision-making skills aren't going to improve. ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
What young guys? Bullard and Bryce Drew. Rudy still makes the substitutions and calls the plays from the sidline. The only person that will receive more playing time is Cato. Excpect Anderson, Rogers, Williams, and Massenburg to recieve the same amount of playing time. Rogers and Anderson learn absouletly nothing by sitting on the bench. Do you actually think Utah would play Bullard over Anderson. Hell No! Rudy T will always play weak three point shooters over over strong atheletic slashers because it fits his system better.
Perhaps he played Bullard over Anderson, because Bull is not afraid to shoot it. How many shots did Anderson get up in 22 minutes tonight...ONE...ONE FRICKEN SHOT. Listen, if the man wants to play he needs to earn it. He had this dissappearing problem in Utah too. Anderson needs to play more aggresively and the minutes will come. Right now, he is not earning his keep. DaDakota PS. Not too many Rockets right now are earning their keep. [This message has been edited by DaDakota (edited November 27, 1999).]
New brand of basketball? dribble the ball around for 20 seconds like some scooby doo globe trotter? Tired of this crap! We need some one glorious. This stevie kid doesn't do it for me. Have you guys heard of this 18 year old asian? He's like 10 ft tall and shoots like a guard. I can't think of the name right now but will log on netscape later to do some searching.
Did tinman just hacked into everybody's account and resurrected all these 1999 threads? Clutch is going to locked all these old threads in a vault.
If I hacked Clutchfans, all the tracy mcgrady only fans and lin only fans would be deleted there would be thread starting privileges revoked for newbs for one full year any one who hates on Clutch City will be banned for life
I I gotta give it to Tinman, I have searched his old posts and he is pretty consistent with how he is now. Although there is a direct correlation with Tinman joining and no Rockets championships.
What the Rockets need to do is tank this season so they have a chance at Stromile Swift in the 2000 draft.
DaDa is the real MVP When did DaDa make the switch in signing off his every post from DaDakota to DD???
I can't believe you can write such hateful and disrespectful messages about Rockets legend player. He put Houston on the map, he deserved to be bad and stunt the team for a couple of years.
