I'm sure all the Hakeem Olawantismoremoney supporters will enjoy this one. Hakeem's line vs. the Pistons : 41 minutes 6-11 FG's 4-5 FT's 14 Points 20 Rebs 1 Steal 5 blocks ... of course, they still lost, but nice line for what's-his-face.
One problem. Cliff Robinson went around him from about 15' out for what amounted to the game winning shot for the Pistons.
Nice game for Hakeem Olawannadoismakeasmuchasmoochienorrisanditurneditdownforslightlymoremoneyincanada
20 boards for Ola-wanna-do-is-be-paid-for-what-i-can-bring-to-the-court-but-the-team-ive-played-for-for-over-15-years-wont-even-offer-me-as-much-as-their-backup-point-guard He's still the man.
Olajuwon's stats are inflated by playing in the East. If he played as many mins with the Rockets, he'd be pulling down 6-7 boards a game.
It won't last...especially after he has another run-in with a glass of cold water. He'll be lucky to play 60 games this season.
Willis can easiiy put up those numbers on a semi-consistent basis. Congrats to Hakeem but also congrats to the Rockets front office for picking up Willis (the day Cato grabs 20 and scores 14, ha!)
Question: Does hakeem still play for the Rockets? Answer: No I think you should have said that if you're trashing hakeem, you're not a Raptors fan. Big difference there. Call me crazy, but I thought that we were fans (or most of us) of the Rockets team not of its ex-players.
It must be nice to have such a simplistic view of things, Manny. Hakeem Olajuwon is the Rockets. To trash him is to trash the Rockets. I don't care where he happens to be playing at this moment, he's still and will always be the Rockets. If the Rockets had never tanked a season to get the chance to draft Hakeem, they (or the city) never would have won a championship, and therefore would not still be here. If you think the city of Houston votes for a new arena had the Rockets never won 2 titles, well, I guess that may explain some of your posts. The fact that you even have the Rockets to root for right now is thanks to Hakeem Olajuwon. That you would take one event at the end of his stay in Houston, and let that outweigh everything else he's done, is very, very sad. Would you like people to remember you by one random post you made on this BBS? I'm sure you wouldn't think that was fair.
Hey, I call them as I see them. I try not to sugarcoat things. I have always said that Hakeem was the reason I started liking the Rockets. I have also said in numerous posts that he will always be remembered as the greatest Rocket ever. And you're right about the city of Houston, however, since I don't live in Houston, I would still have followed the Rockets wherever they moved to. But it is true that Hakeem was the reason why I became a Rocket fan. But you are missing my point, Freak. Maybe it's because you are so blinded by love to Olajuwon..I don't know. Just because Olajuwon was a great player, does that give him the right to screw the Rockets over? I know, I know, the Rockets screwed Hakeem and not the other way around. The truth of the matter is that both sides are guilty. However, to place all the blame on the Rockets side is very disgusting and something that I will argue until the day I die. I have serious problems with the "Rockets screwed Hakeem" argument. I also have serious problems with people who act one way and then do the opposite , i.e. this business of re-signing the whole team and then not even giving the Rockets a chance (these were your hero's words heavily paraphrased here). I think it is very significant. If the Rockets had re-signed Olajuwon to the money and length of years that he wanted, we would have been screwed to get anyone else. As much as I love the Rockets, I don't love seeing them become a perennial lottery team. Has Hakeem shown any signs that he can play 82 games a season now? Face it..he's too old and injury-prone to receive the deal he wanted. His previous contract gave him unrealistic expectations and his ego is too big for him to admit that. Just because he won 2 championships doesn't give him the right to try to destroy the future of this team. Add to the fact that he knew he could play on people's emotions like yours made it a win-win situation for him and a lose-lose one for the Rockets. I like Olajuwon, but I like the Rockets team better. I don't know how else to say that but to say again: I'm a fan of the team and not of the players. I would like for people to read my posts and threads with objectivity and know that I try to back up my arguments and that I'm not going to bulls*** them; however, I don't think that I'm going to lose any sleep tonight because someone on this BBS thinks that I'm an *******.
Look go ahead and take pot shots at me all you want. It just makes you look stupid. I enjoy arguing with you because I know eventually you'll do something like this. And for the record..it was ranking the posters not rating them. Damn, Freak, I thought that you comprehended better than that. But then again maybe this lack of comprehension skills explains this love affair you have for Dream. BTW - "non-rocket" fan...LOL! Is that the best you can do..that's weak.
