As I'm sitting, watching the 1984 final four game on ESPNClassic with Houston vs. Georgetown (As a day long tribute to Patrick Ewing's retirement) , I am wondering why is everyone in media making a big deal out of Ewing's retirement when there is hardly any talk of Hakeems'. Is it because Hakeem has not officially anounced his retirement. If so does any one know when he will make that announcement ?
I don't think he's officially done it yet. I think that he just failed his physical and is considering some things. As far as I know, he doesn't have to retire, but I think I may be wrong. He could just be sidelined and cost the Raptors money. Or he could get in better condition and pass another physical. Or he could retire. That's all I know. Believe me, if he did retire and this is all the attention he got, there would be a lot of angry Houston fans mad at ESPN and other sports shows, as well as the media.
Actually he should have retired last year!! Jokes apart, I think Toronto should waive him, we should pay him the League minimum ( I think 50% of that is paid by the League itself) and then have him teach Ming and if time permits Cato a thing or two about being the best centers they can be....
dream should have retired when his contract was up last offseason. he should have retired as a rocket.
The real Hakeem IS retired. Some poser is out there trying to beg for money while faking an injury. So sad...
